I now have a matched pair of US Divers Rocket Fins (I had a set of "mismatched" fins before). Picked these up at a local shop for cheap. Yes...I've heard bad things about them, but whatever. Just wanted to get a pair to say I had a pair. Not too terribly vintage as these did not come out until 1969-ish. Mark 81226846_2988193561232570_2624639125717778432_o by Mark Lodge, on Flickr

Mark, very fun: I know you'll enjoy them. The scuba police won't bust you as there's an arbitrary date of sometime in the 1980's for "vintage" gear.
OK, buddy, ya gotta hear this: it's so bad that I was laughing until tears were running down my face:

I love my Rockets. They have been my "lake fins" for years

Rockets are cool flippers but my ankles were never strong enough to use them. I'd cramp up or just get really sore not too long into the dive. Those who can sucessfully use them are a better man than I am Gunga Din.

Those who can sucessfully use them are a better man than I am Gunga Din. I've never had a problem with the Rockets although as I said they have been my "lake fins". When I dive at my parents lake house my dives are usually short and shallow. My Spoilers are the fins I have trouble with. Spoilers have the flex of plywood, they cause me to get upper leg cramps.

I dive with these.
I have always dived with the same pair. I'm soooo slow. I believe that good modern fins would help me keep up with my dive partners, who I'm usually anxiously tracking by disturbed sand and intuition, until s/he's disappeared entirely into the gloom.
They are so stiff. Cramps waiting to happen. I am looking for a new set.

The day after we moved into this house my wife went to the "city wide garage sale": she brought me home a pair of them as well as some Nemrod full foot fins.

I will have a go at these this Summer, but my go to fins will probably still be my Scuba Pro Jets, Voit UDT/Duckfeet and my Oceanways Cressi Rondine copies. Starting to like my Dacor Turbo II's... Not a great fin, but I like them. Mark
