I just bought a small DC wire welder to make some stuff. I had to disassemble my wife's treadmill when it died, and now I have a bunch of excellent steel to make stuff out of. Like a trolley for my new welder + my small oxy-acetylene setup + a MAP/propane brazing outfit. Oughta be kew.
I'll post pics as it gets done.

When I was in college I took a sculpture class, I musta took it about five or six times: we did the lost-wax process: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost-wax_castingSo, Mr. Machinist, you could hypothetically make your own valve bodies JB

Not hypothetically. I could make single stage valve bodies pretty easily. Two stage would take a bit more, but possible. At this point, though, I don't see the need to make new ones when there're all kinds already made!

OK, this isn't scuba, but it is very interesting in regards to mechanical things: "Simple Sabotage Field Manual by United States. Office of Strategic Services" it's from 1944: www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/26184Enjoy, JB
