PY, do you know how this one differs from the R-1 and R-3?

This is an R-1, which was the first Dacor regulator. The R-1,2, and 3 are similar, with 2 diaphragms. The basic difference between the models is the placement of the 2nd stage. They all used the same very simple arrangement, but the R-1 and 2 had the second stage 90 degrees away from the intake horn. The R-3's was moved to be directly in front of the intake opening. It turns out the only real difference between the R-1 and R-2 is the label. Minor differences were that the R-1 used 2 fine screens and a perforated plate for the 1st stage filter, where the R-2 has a sintered filter, and the hoses were different. This thread has lots of information on the 2500 series regs: vintagescuba.proboards.com/thread/5098/dacor-double-hose-regulator-series

The asking price was $150 so the seller must have accepted a $125 offer. Good deal, nice reg. If I didn't have 5 already I'd a been making an offer too.

Things have gone crazy. $125 for that regulator is insane. It is worth $275.

Perhaps the seller just wanted to get rid of it: who knows? It never hurts to ask especially if you're gracious in your asking: "Hi, how is your day going? Say, I've noticed you have a regulator for sale: would you accept $XXX.XX? Thanks so much, and I hope things are going well..." I've noticed those types/kinds of messages help/work... Don't be a blunt-jerk; be nice, be personal JB

Wait: someone can ask that much and still want shipping?!?!? Those must be some really good drugs he's taking... JB $3,500 for a dive knife??? Wow, and I'll put my 1960s Sportsways dive knife, with an orange handle, brass top and stainless steel up against it anytime. It'll also keep a sharp edge, and cut through a 4-inch rope, or the risers of a parachute harness and the parachute lines (I know, as it has). Maybe I should put my Sportsways dive knife up for $3,500 too. John PS, I just sharpened that knife up using a sharpening steel, and it slices nicely through newspaper. The Sportsways knife I just sharpened is right next to it on the right. Both are superb knives.

Another reverse "Holy-Moly!" regulator sold this morning on eBay. $107.50 + $14.50 shipping for a nice early DAAM with what looked like good hoses and mp + a really nice doubles cheater bar.
It wasn't me. I'm up to my neck in DAAMs. And, I really don't want to buy any more regulators.
Unless it's a DivAir. Or a NED HydroTwin. Or a Titan II. Or a Trieste. Or a cruddy Scuba with a partial Hope-Page....
Dang. It never ends.
It seems DAAMs are truly a dime a dozen these days. When I first started buying DH regs 6 years (?) ago, I was lucky to buy a crap DAAM with no hoseloop for $200.

OK, but did you see the guy in Florida who has decided to sell a second generation Scubair: he's got the first and second stages listed separately, for 35bux a pop an' 13bux shipping, same with a Sherwood Brut... WOW-- NERVY! JB

I have come across a SpiroSub Mistral , S/N M0292. The metal needs ultrasonic to clean up and the hoses are in great shape, (Look new so guessing they have been replaced). I started taking it apart to check the inside and the diaphragm is dried, cracked and now torn trying to slip it off. My question is, while I know about rebuilding modern regs I am not competent to rebuild this vintage reg. Also wouldn't know where to look for parts. One thing I never noticed with old double hose regs was that this one has a selector valve on the mouthpiece like it can support a third hose. Pictures I have looked at almost look like a snorkel attachment. So my question is, Where can I send it for repair or rebuild or where can I buy parts and get a manual?
