Well, I know I need a copy of Fred Robert's "Basic Scuba"... but the budget only supports one copy. If you had to choose, would you buy the 1960 first edition, or the 1967 second? And why?
Shamelessly looking for advice,
James

James, you want the 1967 edition as it covers the early single hose regs as well as newer, up to 1962 DH's. JB EDIT: I do have both

James, if you look on line you'll see them come up pretty cheap now and then. I paid $10 for my 2nd edition, and $30 for the 1st ed.

I have a 1960 first edition there is no mention in it of the Snark 3. I have a 1977 paperback edition which does cover the Snark 3.

Keep looking at amazon, abebooks.com and alibris.com. I think I got mine on Amazon and abebooks. I also got a $4 copy of the Soviet Scuba Bible on alibris. Be patient. If you can't find anything w/in reason we can negotiate a nice price for my first edition. They'll have to pry the 2nd book from my cold, dead hands....

What's funny about mine is that it shows a diver using the Dacor Nautilus and Olympic, BWA-HAHAHAHA! The Olympic has a bit of a learning curve to its service and disassembly...

So I got impatient, and spent way too much for a second edition. On the other hand, if I had put it off, I would have just kept talking myself out of it. So it is done... now impatiently awaiting it getting here!

James; hopefully you are aware that now that you have that 2nd edition it's going to look lonely up there on your bookshelf, and will most likely be in need of a companion like maybe the 1st edition! In the words of Phil: JUST SAYIN'

Is the '67 edition a paperback? Mine are 1960 (blue) and 1963 (red) hardcovers. Is there a 1977, or is that a typo by Skip up above?
Dang! Does this mean I need a 1967 and 1977 edition now?

I'm 90% sure mine "67" date was a typo. Since I bought it, the ad isn't up anymore to verify. But I do know it is hardbound, red cover (missing dust jacket), and I tried to read the copyright date of the picture in the ad. I'll know for sure in a week!
