Happy to be aboard!
I currently work in the dive industry in southern New England. I have a natural interest in history that blends readily with my love of the water. At present I have a collection of Conshelfs in various states of working order and a pair of Royal Aqua-Masters (one converted to Phoenix over at VDH), as well as a couple of other assorted bits of vintage kit. I have a background as a scuba technician, more focused on modern gear.
Looking forward to joining the conversation, expanding my knowledge base, and hopefully being able to contribute where I can.
Thanks for the add!

It's good to see you here. We have a lot of expertise in our members.
The Conshelf are really nice rulators.
The Royal Aquamaster was a wonderful regulator, used a lot in the Antarctic until they got so old and beat up that they leaked water into their case, which froze and they started leaking. One of the. Best cold water double hose regulators for not freezing was the Dacor double diaphragm regulator series. But, due to their design, the U.S. Navy never approved them (they breathed harder than Navy limits, especially on exhalation). But, they never froze and were tested to something like -50 degrees F.

Slip me some skin Jackson an' shoot the shoibit to me hoibit! Wie geht's? As a big jazz enthusiast, especially Hot Jazz and Swing, I dig the jive and I'm handin' it back in spades So yes, welcome gate! I'm hip to the Connie, my old lady has one, that's her bubble maker. But me, I dig Healthways gear, it's like the coolest dad... JB

I should point out to those a bit flummoxed by my response: the phrase "Greetings gates" is an old Hep, or Hip term from the 1930-40's. If someone's Jazz band could really swing, they would say that they "Swing like a gate", so aficionados of Swing music would call one another "gates"... Ya dig? JB

Greetings gates was actually a running gag that got its start with Jerry Colonna on the Bob Hope radio program, I figured it might fly here! (Image Insertion Test)

We have a thread on Dacor double hose regulators, and I have several, including a R-2. While theU.S. Divers Company original Aqualung regulator had the low pressure orifice opening at 180 degrees from the intake horn, the Dacor R-2 had the opening at 90 degrees from the intake horn. I believe that this caused an asymmetric air flow, which gave the regulator a weak Venturi action. John

If you're just looking for something fun to learn and play with, by all means, the R-2 and R-3 are fun, but if you want an open water regulator you may want to look for (I always thought the guy in the image looked like David Bowie): JB
