After doing a trade with Vance for a long Yoke and Banjo for some rat rod regulator parts, I received the package today and threw the long Yoke on my DAAM and installed a Dacor gauge on the banjo. I tested it on both Sherwood and Thermo Valves, and it fits well and works. Good to know, since I have a pile of both styles of valves.
A big thank you to Vance for facilitating this trade!

When I got into this game, there were no reproduction banjos or hookah port adapters available, and originals were very rare and hard to find. Then a couple unsung heroes came along and spearheaded making those parts that we all earnestly desired. Everyone was happy, and we thought they would always be available. So, where can we find banjos and hookah port adapters now? Is true vintage double hose diving going the way of the Do-Do bird again?

You bring up a good point, especially about the hookah port adapters. Not too long ago (couple years back) they were regularly stocked at VDH. Haven’t seen them there for a long time! I suppose because of the lack of demand for them, there isn’t a large supply. People have their Kraken and Phoenix regulators, so no need for either the banjo or hookah. I wouldn’t be surprised if by 2030 the hookah and banjo will be phased out in favour of a new vintage scuba device. TD

On a side note, does anybody happen to know the size of the o ring which is inside the groove in the banjo? Looks like a small Sherwood style o ring, not one of those big chunky USD o rings.

Making adapters and tabbed diaphragms doesn't help sell upgraded stages and new regulators....

I think Herman is still making hookah adapters. He may have a few left over from his last batch. I got two, as I recall, last winter.

Making adapters and tabbed diaphragms doesn't help sell upgraded stages and new regulators.... I'm quoting myself again, but I want to make it clear that I don't think there's anything wrong with that, if it's the reason. I'm only saying it might be the reason those things aren't being offered any more. It is also very expensive to order a part made in the number of units that is required. The question then is, how many can you sell?
