Recently my twin 38's returned from hydro & passed w/ flying colors. I originally had a USD solid bar manifold on them but instead put on a Sherwood dual post manifold. I put the old solid bar manifold on a new twin set of AL 50's, I know! I hope the vintage scuba god's are kind to me for getting aluminum tanks. Anyway when I put on my Mistral reg the single hose reg on the right post interfered with the double hoses placement. In the past I saw that John and others had reversed the center post section so the upper post was now pointed to the rear. Bingo! no more DH interference. This alignment will work out great when I use my 38's with my drysuit and also have a octo available. When I first acquired these 38's back in 2011, the seller had a machinist friend machine the bushings to accept a 3/4 inch valve, pretty unique to me at the time. Anyway I can't wait to use them. Since the China Flu has emerged I consider working on my dive gear as therapy while waiting for better times. Jerry My 38's back from hydro and ready to go Notice the machined bushings to take a 3/4" valve sherwood manifold

Here's what I did to get a DH and an SH reg on 1 tank: It's an adapter consisting of a yoke coupled to a tank fitting block set up on a Y valve. It also mounts the sh 1st stage backwards. It doesn't work with all combinations. It's best with a HW first stage. I really like your solution!

Ok Jerry, there must be cosmic kowinkydink forces at play in the universe. I just picked up my steel 45's from hydro yesterday and am getting ready to put my Sherwood dual post valves on them. I was talking to Luis Heros a few weeks ago and he mentioned reversing the outer post to accommodate a DH on the main post so that is what I am planning on doing. Just finished overhauling the valves/manifold (see pic) and I'm just waiting for my new VDH backplate to arrive. In an attempt to please the vintage scuba gods I replaced the plastic knobs with metal Sportsways and US Divers knobs. Mark

Mark I love the metal knobs you replaced on the manifold, now I'm going to have to find some metal knobs myself to replace.

I agree, they look sooooo much better! John sent me one of those a while back, and I started thinking a few years back to do he same thing. I'm sure I can find something at Steele's JB

Mark I love the metal knobs you replaced on the manifold, now I'm going to have to find some metal knobs myself to replace. Since the parts come from US Divers, Sportsways and Sherwood my wife says I should call it a "us-divers-sport-wood." I'm not entirely clear what she meant by that.

Hi Fish-n-beer, - I'm interested in your bushings modified to fit the modern 3/4 straight thread. I have thought about the possibilities of doing that but was concerned that there might not be enough steel thickness afterwards, okay for high pressure, DOT after modification, etc. Actually, I didn't look into it seriously enough to take measurements and check it out in depth. Could you elaborate on your bushing mods a bit? Thank you.
Added Later: Now I remember why... Just for easier inspection. But once I got a compressor, I didn't need to have the local dive shop screwing with my twin tank manifold bushings to do unnecessary annual visuals. My tanks get qualified visuals along with hydros every 5 years of course.

Sweet.
Back in the 70's, when I'd go diving with my dive buddy Lane Burti around Eureka, CA, he sported a pair of 45s.
I was so envious of him and his doubles. He was WAY cooler than me with my steel single 1954 Rene 72cf tank. I don't remember what regulator he used, but it was a single hoser.... Anyway, the ladies flocked around those 45's.
It had to be what attracted them, right?
Those doubles....

Hmmm

I have a new Vintage diver friend who got in touch with me this week through NAUI. We talked about Vintage diving, and he is trying to rebuild a USD Calypso, and two Scubapro second stages, a 108 and a 109. He at first was wondering about re-chroming the second stages. Then he informed me that he had just picked up a set of twin steel Dacor 50 cubic foot cylinders, for $20 from a neighbor. He's looking to get them hydroed. I gave him some resources, and looked them up, and they were in the 1969 Dacor catalog. I'll ask if I can share his photos.

Got my 45's all rigged with integrated weights and D-Rings. Anxious for the local waves to subside (awesome west swell today) so I can get this puppy UW!
