...We have a three-post thread on AMF Voit here in this repository. John Just as long as it isn't a suppository Anyway... The piston-Calypsos were made by Sherwood, I know this for sure because many of the parts were/are interchangeable with the HW Scubair-B and Scubair-II, that's what got me to thinking about Voit JB

JB what did you use to shim the stem there?

I think he uses a slice of silicone tubing cut to length.

That in my image is made from a bit of tubing from a Waterpik hose. If you have a rotaory-leather punch you can make a really good one using an inner tube as can be seen, if you look closely, here: JB

Don't quote me, but I think a pressure guage spool o-ring (003) will work as well. I just use the exhaust valves out of an aqualung LPO or ABS (because I had some laying around).

So, I got the thing put together and to my surprise on first dry-testing it actually breathed nicely with no leaks. The original exhaust T doesn't stay on, so I had to take that part too from the 108. Unfortunately I can't find the little bolt for the cover ring Anyway, this was fun little project to get some experience working on old regs, and it’ll be going to James and pairing up with a White Stag 1st White Stag by Jim Perdway, on Flickr White Stag by Jim Perdway, on Flickr

The original exhaust T doesn't stay on, so I had to take that part too from the 108. You can always secure it with some RTV or shoe-goo (John's weapon of choice): even with the tee glued on, you should still be able to change the valve out with a blunt-probe and a tweezers... But seeing as it's a silicone valve, it should last several life times JB

That way, it won't adhere when you need to take it off. John

JB what did you use to shim the stem there? I had to shim the exhaust valve on my Snark II. I picked up some 3mm stainless steel washers. They worked perfect

It was a common practice in the 60's to remove one of the mushroom valves on the Healthways regs to decrease exhalation effort. Glenn Egstrom (UCLA) was doing work of breathing studies at the time, and made that suggestion at the instructor course I attended in 1968. When he said something we listened! I suggest using a little dishwashing liquid soap on the stem of a new exhaling valve to ease its installation. The soap will quickly wash away, leaving the valve securely fastened. Hi antique diver. I was fortunate enough to meet Glenn Egstrom in 1974 when he came to Honolulu to run the instructor course I was in. A fine and knowledgeable gentleman indeed.

Since this old thread got resurrected by artc, I thought I'd comment/ask that the exhaust T's look like the MR12 type? Those should be around.
