One thing that happened to me during the rebuild was the stiffness of the original springs on the lever. Even after proper tuning, the regulator was a hard breather. Luckily, I had an extra set that was more flexible. After switching out the originals with the other ones, the wob was like night and day. All in all, a good learning experience. I know from the jar of springs that Jim Steele had at TPoAWT that there were different tension springs for tuning the second stages on these regs. I don't remember how many different values there were, but maybe 3. These regs are not venturi assisted. Even the later ones with the second stage close to the intake horn did not have a venturi action.
