We have had great input on the rarest USD 2 hosers, but what about the VOIT line of double hose regs. What is the rarest, or your favorite, and WHY?

Well Chuck looks like I'm the first to reply here. My favorite Voit is the blue metal 50 Fathom 'cause it was my 1st regulator and I still dive it today, but I would guess the rarest would be the blue plastic 50 Fathom since I've seen several older Voit lungs for sell since I've been prowling Ebay, but never a plastic blue 50. 'course most of you guys out there know a lot more than me so I could be wrong.

This is my favorite: It has the matte finish and have never seen another like it.

Karl,
So you have the blue label Voit Lung! I've been wondering about the color change from green to blue. The blue ones that I've seen have higher serial #'s than the green ones, so obviously it came out after the green labels (hopefully). Anyhow, the only reason I can think of for the change is that they installed the mistral orifice instead of the DW/DY orifice. If you ever open up the regulator, please let me know which orifice it has.
Thanks, Mike

I seem to recall that Voit also had a plastic body regulator like the USD Jet Air at the time I bought my VR2 in 1957. If my memory is correct I haven't seen one since then

All other parts are interchangable. The VR2 only gets wet for special events. The VR2 was my first regulator that I bought as a teenager in 1957. Over the years I either sold or gave it away, I can really remember. I still have and use the Voit 72 I bought at the same time. A couple of years ago after hearing the story of my original VR2 Bryan with the help of other great vintage diver friends presented me with one they had bought on ebay. I had it rechromed and rebuilt it. It only sees fresh water. When not being used it sits in a hermetically sealed mayonaise jar under Funk and Wagnels porch.

Why did the vintage diver jump into the mud puddle? Because he was a dirty double hoser. Why did the chicken cross the road, run back , then jump in the mud?? HE WAS A DIRTY DOUBLE CROSSER!!

Well; I have to cast my vote for the V66 Voit Navy. I know it's not the rarest; but it is my favorite. The first double hose reg I ever owned back in the early 60's was a Voit Navy which I sold in the mid 70's while in college. I always regretted selling that reg and now own another. My present Voit Navy was a Christmas gift from my wife and 2 daughters about 6 - 8 years ago which was purchased from Dan at VSS. Every dive with this reg sure brings back some fond memories and some great vintage adventures. ;D Terry
