Does anyone still make tank bands for steel 72's?
I've got 4 steel 72's that I would like to make into two sets of twins (I already have manifolds). Is any company making new bands or do I just check ebay until something comes along?
OMS makes a set of "7-inch" bands but I have yet to hear back from them if those bands will work with 6.9 cylinders.
Comments or thoughts?
Thanks, Ltstanfo

"6.9" could be considered "7" for all intents and purposes. Do you mean "7 1/4"?
"simonbeans' " stainless steel single 72 bands are very heavy and rugged- very well made. I'm sure peanutkings' stainless doubles bands are equally as good. I just hope that someday someone can find a way to make good old hot-dip galvanized steel bands.

No, I really did mean 6.9 bands. I know there is little (effective) difference from 7 bands but curiously when I was looking for a set for some tanks, I found that OMS still makes 7 bands. I inquired if their bands would work on steel 72s and they responded that they might but would not commit to it nor did they recommend it. I guess it is a liability thing as well as wanting to sell their own tanks. :-) In any event, my problem is now solved and I am very satisfied. Regards, Ltstanfo

O.K. I had never heard of 7" cylinders before. Now, upon checking, I see that OMS, Faber, and Worthington offer a few models in that diameter. One has to wonder, why the odd size? Glad you got it all worked out to your satisfaction.

Vic can make bands for steel 72s of whatever diameter needed. I also have two LP Faber 85s and they measure just over 7 inches diameter (7.09 inches sorta) and they are noticeably larger in diameter than a steel 72 and will not work with the same bands I do not think.
