Since there has been interest of late in NAVED, I wanted to post this basic information for all who might be interested. NAVED is a social club of Divers who share a common passion for Vintage Equipment Diving. Anyone who wants to join and meets the simple criteria outlined on the site is granted membership in NAVED. On behalf of NAVED and as the NAVED Vice President, I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone who is interested in sharing our love for vintage equipment and vintage equipment diving. Please follow this link for more information: NAVED Membership RulesNotes: (1)Although we use VDH as a web host, we are not affiliated with VDH. (2) Absolutely no profit is made from your $15.00 membership fee. This fee only pays for your full color NAVED card with your photo on the back.

JES: Thanks for the info regarding NAVED. I'm really glad to see that there is interest being shown about NAVED, and that it is being discussed at VDH and VSS. Hopefully the day will soon come when NAVED will have it's own website and will be able to support itself with help from it's membership. VSS and VDH have certainly been a blessing for the vintage community and I believe that NAVED has all the potential to be the same. The vintage community has come a very long way in just the last few years and all of us who are part of that community should be greatful for that. Vintage websites, forums, vintage dive events, parts that haven't been available in many years; who would have thought just a few years ago that this would all be possible; not to mention the many friends many of us have made through these sites. Long live VSS, VDH and NAVED. I look forward to seeing many of you again and meeting new people at this years events. Terry

If and when NAVED gets it's own website there will not be any discussion forums accociated with it. Those topics are already covered here and on vdh and that other place--scaryboard SeaHunt forum. There is no need for another discussion board. The only topics will be buisneess, asscociation, news related specific to the organization. In other words, discussions about which snorkel is vintage, whose regulator is better etc will continue to be carried on here and vdh ad nauseum. No point in taking attention away from the two excellent forums we are so lucky to have and water them down with yet a third. JMO.

Thank you for your interest in joining the National Association of Vintage Equipment Divers. This is not a certification agency, nor is the association implying any kind of certification at all. This is strictly a group of divers with a passion for Vintage Scuba Equipment.
There are very few rules in this social organization but before we can welcome you aboard as a member we ask that you meet a minimum of TWO of the criteria outlined below. 1) Provide at least one photo of yourself using scuba equipment that was made prior to 1975. (Please ensure that it is clear and we can see that it is you) This one is mandatory. You'll need to meet one of the next three as well. 2) Be an active member of the Vintage Equipment discussion forums at Vintage Double Hose.com or Vintage Scuba Supply.com 3) Dive with us at one of our many Events throughout the year. Sand Dog in Florida, Lake Wazee in Wisconsin, Portage Quarry, in Ohio or any of the diving events sponsored by the Historical Diving Society. 4) Have a recommendation from a current NAVED member. Your $15.00 membership fee will include your full color NAVED card with your photo on the back. We prefer that your photo show you diving Vintage Gear if at all possible. If you don’t have one we will be happy to take your picture free of charge at any of our Vintage Equipment Diving Events. PLEASE NOTE, to register for the members-only NAVED site, you must first become a NAVED Member. [/b]

Whew! Whatever you do; Don't ask Nem if you can be wearing a SPARE AIR in that picture!! I did; cause I had somewhat of an idea that might get him fired up; it did, and did I catch hell! Man; that was fun. Terry

Your just evil Terry.
But, we are trying to keep this particular thing serious, memebership in NAVED. It is not a joke. I knew you were joking and I hope you understood my retort was as well. Way back, we got a bunch of fruit cakes trying to join to collect a card or to give it away as a joke or sign their dog up etc. I and a few others took insult to that. None of them were vintage divers, just jokers. No worries Terry, your hoses are safe, for now.

Hi Nem: Glad you knew that I was just having some fun with you; I couldn't resist. In regards to taking this serious; I'm with you ALL THE WAY when it comes to NAVED. The opportunity that VSS & VDH have given us to come together and to get to know each other and dive with each other has opened the door to NAVED which in itself is a great opportunity. I remember when NAVED came into being and all the hassle you guys got when you began to issue cards. As for myself; the NAVED cards look great and I'm very proud to be the owner of one. With NAVED we have an opportunity to take the word out in public about ourselves, VSS & VDH and to be an important part in the restoration of diving's heritage and the equipment that goes with it which is what many of us learned to dive with. I also remember the lengthy conversation you and I had Nem at Wazee last summer regarding NAVED; so I do take it serious. Keep up the great work and let me know how and if I can be of any help. Terry

Sorry if it is wrong for me to bring this over decade old topic back. But I was wondering about NAVED as of late. Is anyone here a member?, is it still around? how do I join? etc. Thought I'd bring this one back from the dead. Mark

Hi TomCat, The VDH forum still has a section titled for NAVED and I think they tried to revive some discussion a few years back by having a regular "Featured Diver". - I've been a member since 2011 and I think you can still join. I don't know whether NAVED has an official function. It might serve as a confidence builder when you dive vintage and the local dive pro gets suspicious... "Of course I know what I'm doing. I'm a member of the National Association of Vintage Equipment Divers. See? Here's my NAVED Card." - Here's the link: NAVED

Card-carrying NAVED #107 here, join date of January 2006. I wasn't sure if the group was still taking members or not, so I'm glad this thread was revived.

From what I heard from a couple people, NAVED is no longer active. Which is a bummer, because I got to the party too late... Mark
