Hello Vintqage scuba experts,
My name is Robert, began diving in 1973, am a NAUI instructor for the past 7 years. I have been friends with a guy that has been in the retail scuba industry since the late 60's (yes I know i'm really a newbie in the VINTAGE sense '). I have a lot of old equipment from the 70's on... looking to expand into the earlier years... During my YMCA certifcation class in 1973 my insrtuctor let us try the single stage dual hose regs during pool sessions...
The question I would like to pose to the group is...
Could we establish a forum for vintage equipment usage and techniques?
For those of us who have only recently been bitten by the vintage bug, it would be nice to see a forum on the vintage board for the techniques peculiar to the older double hose, single stage regulators. Regulator recovery, clearing techniques etc. This forum could include topics specific to the older equipment including not only regulator techniques but early BC, weighting, wetsuit usage as well.
For those 'recent divers' that would like to try out the older equipment any instruction provided by the experienced vintage divers would be greatly appreciated.
Robert
PS: Dan and Linda, great work, love to see folks that are committed to educating and facilitating how we got to where we are in this wonderful sport...

We could do that... A special section on this forum dealing with education and information? Specific to diving with vintage gear? I remember someone starting a thread awhile back about how to clear with a two hose reg... Is that a good example of what you would like to see? And what should the section title be? How about "Vintage Diving Instruction and Technique"? Anyone got a better idea?

Linda, that is a great idea. I have been discussing it with a couple of other individuals. For the book about double hoses that I'm compiling information for I already have a diagram that demonstrates double hose clearing info. I will E-mail you the pictures in a bit in case you want to use them on the site.

Thanks, Linda
Yes, the two hose clearing technique is exactly the kind of topic for the forum. Good choice of names too. Looking forward to reading and learning

Ask and ye shall receive! The new section is up. Not much there yet, but I imagine it will grow in time.
