Douglas, this forum is for vintage scuba related discussion only (before 1980, at our discretion).
Welcome aboard - do you have vintage items in your collection?

But realize that this kind of watch is for use by vintage divers, you know, ones who use a watch and depth guage, and not a dive computer for calculating dive times. Anyway, welcome Douglas. That is a very beautiful watch.

Gravina,
The website is wonderful, and clearly has a lot of vintage gear.
Most divers these days use diving computers, rather than watches. But my son is a mechanical engineer, and he got me a Seiko (which I'm wearing as I write this). Because of that Christmas gift, I gave up a dive computer watch in favor of a different dive computer. But I find myself not using it much, and simply relying on my Seiko for most of my diving (I usually dive shallow anyway). My son finds the auto-winding feature a true mechanical wonder, and I've enjoyed the watch very much. It is my third Seiko, and I've worn out the first two.
Enjoy,
John

I liked much of its history! Congratulations for the child you have! He is a man of luck. This Seiko below is considered the first computer for diving It is a Seiko M726 Best regards Gravina

Those are beautiful. These are two of mine that I waer the most. Not old but they are auto winders. Seiko watches are brutes. Nem

I dive with a non-vintage camera (Nikonos 4A). My Nik ll flooded and is now a dive store display. If anyone has a green body Calypso, in divable condition, they want to give away, I'll gladly find it a new home! Then I could dive with a vintage camera again! ;D
I also have a Citizen Aqualand ProMaster I paid $50 for. Don't think it's vintage 'cause it has a built in bottom timer (works sort of like the one in Tekna gauges; came out about the same time as Tekna - 1985?). Hope no one says they want to find my watch a new home! (though I would consider trading for a good working (divable) Calypso (Green Body). Sorry, I can't put pictures on right now or I'd show a picture of it.

Someones bound to say - Calypso, your dreaming!
First time I dove with a Scubapro Mk Vll was 1979 (so, I guess they are vintage now). Does anyone still use them? They had a honker on them that made lots of noise when the tank got low on air. They breathed pretty good to. Just curious.
Back to watches, does anyone know if my watch is vintage?

Bob,
Citizens Aqualand may not be vintage, but can not be repaired, either. Had one since 1992 that after annual batteries and seals, finally gae up the ghost about three years ago. When the local Citizens repair shops couldn't do anything, I sent the watch back to Citizens US headquarters...they said the insides were no longer made, no longer any in stock. Offered to replace the watch with any current model at half price.
So, if you really, really like that watch, take good care of it.

Ralph,
The LDS ordered o-ring for mine from Citizen in Japan and I replaced my own batteries. Haven't had any problems with mine. Maybe you need to talk to someone else in the company. Sounds like someone's trying to make a sale. Happens a lot in the scuba industry now-a-days.
