Greetings all,
Figured I would make a first introduction post here! Don't know too many divers out my way and even less vintage divers. So I figured I would make a post to try to network and meet some new people for later meets. I am out here in-land US, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Can't think I have met anyone on the rez that dives, however Rapid City has a small dive center. I am a young guy, 28, started diving when I was 12 years old, took a few years off and am getting back into it.
Might be asking why a young guy like myself am interested in vintage stuff. Well for starters I am always interested in the past. I am going to school to become a K-12 Lakota Studies Teacher. So I am always interested in the traditional ways that you don't see. Second when I was growing up I remember watching someone on the disney channel about a diving family, and all the book in our library are all dealing with all pre 1970 equipment. So I thought it was going to be like that when I started diving. Hated all the hoses and embumbered I felt in by bcd. Probably one of the reasons why I took a break from diving. However I came across an old Royal-Aquamaster and started to collect more vintage equipment (going to make a wanted post for a tank here after this post). I have since rebuilt that regulator, havn't dove with it but am looking forward to it.
Anyway that is my quick, if you can call it quick, introduction! Hope to meet with more of you at some point.

Hello and welcome! K-12 Lakota Studies sounds really interesting! I have been through your area while traveling. I thought the Crazy Horse monument was really awesome. Anyway, I'm just the tech around here, the other guys will help you with the diving stuff. But I thought I'd say hello.

Welcome floatingpi!. You have definitely come to the right place for Vintage Diving. It's great that you have decided to become a part of this community. I think you'll agree that the members are friendly, extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. Congratulations on the Royal Aquamaster. If you ever need it repaired Dan Barringer (the owner of this forum) can perform this service and does an excellent job! Welcome aboard and remember to stay connected, post often and dive safe! Best Regards, JES

Linda - What time of the year did you drive through? June is about the best time of the year around here. Most of the time everything is dried up by July. Crazy Horse is really great I would have suggested to take a drive through niddles highway and spearfish canyon. Two drives that I do several times a year around here. You mentioned your the tech for the site? I assume that you know someone that does vintage diving to be hanging out here. @jes - Thanks, looking forward to chatting with people and making new friends. I'll post when I can the school district blocks this site even for teachers. (Teachers can't do anything online it seems...) So I do most of my posting late at night. I have been getting excited about getting a few vintage peices here and there. I'll keep that name in mind for a repair. I bought a rebuilt kit, seat, valves from vintage double hose. The rebuild that I did wasn't very difficult, just need to adjust the output psi and it should be finished.

Hi,
Make sure you got the nozzle tight enough on you RAM. RAM's are great regulators (in my opinion, one of the best ever made). Welcome to the forum.
