Oh no, oh no, oh no! www.hans-hass.de/Hans Hass spent his third chapter trying to help humanity. I'm trying to find the page I've seen in the past, but he had some very, very interesting ideas late in life. I found it, and it is called the Energon Theory. Here's a page in English about this theory of Hans Hass: www.hans-hass.de/5.htmlIn my retirement, I'm going to be looking more closely it his theories. They fascinate me. Here is the first paragraph in German and English of the above link: John

Oh dear, very sad indeed. His wife Lotte is one of the great diving pioneers, too, and I believe she is still alive? Anyway, very sad, yes, such a huge loss.

Here is the translation of the writing about Lotte Hass on the Hans Hass website above:
If you'll go to the Media section, I've posted a You Tube link to a one-hour plus film by Dr. Hans Hass about diving in the Red Sea. It prominently features Lotte Hass.

Prof. Hass had a tremendous influence on diving, underwater photography, underwater eduction, and marine science. He preceded Cousteau by several years in his efforts to write about and photograph the underwater world. Sadly, he is more well known in Europe than in the US. His loss is a sad event, however his legacy will live on for a long time.

While Professor Hans Hass has passed, Trapezius over on ScubaBoard posted a very interesting link, which is one of his original films in German and in black and white. I think you will enjoy it even if you don't understand the narration.

Just learning that Lotte Hass, Hans' wife, has also recently passed away. Now Jacques and Simone Cousteau, Hans and Lotte Hass are gone. Last of the original diving dynsties.

- It is amazing to see Hans and Lotte Hass flitting about underwater, so unencumbered and happy with their oxygen re-breathers... When now-a-days we think of such equipment as deadly dangerous. And in these days of such easy underwater photography (with GoPro and such) it is amazing to look upon such an exquisite underwater camera system as designed by Hans Hass in the Rollei Marine. I wish his books and movies were available in English. Rest in Peace Hans Hass.
