I just wanted to say hello, and introduce myself. I am a "former" diver, who is interested in starting again. I guess I am "vintage" now (disturbing thought), as I was first certified by NAUI in 1974 (Midway IS with the USN). I can't say I collect vintage gear, I just have a pile of it from when I first started (mostly in disrepair, which is what led me to this site). Over the years I have dove in Mid Pacific (Midway IS), HI (Oahu), Guam, Mexico and Baja, CA (limited), Puget Sound, W coast Canada, SE Alaska, and Montana (don't bother). I am currently living in Central CA (Sacramento area), so have access to some great diving areas. I am coming to grips with age (57) and disabilities (injured in the service), but am excited about resurrecting some adventure into my life. Dale

Hi, Dale- Welcome aboard! There are several divers on this forum who live not too far from you. Maybe you can meet up with them at some point. Thanks for joining us! Linda

Dale,
Welcome. You'll find there are several board members from the Bay Area and other reaches of No. Cal.
Where did you dive in SE Alaska? I am originally from Fresno, but now live in Sitka, AK and am an avid diver.
During the second world war, the Navy really built up Sitka. The was a runway, fuel docks and the US Army was here with a coastal defense battery and cable laying ships etc. I plan on diving around some of the causeway later this week. So far I've mostly explored the topside stuff:

Dale, welcome! My wife and I live in San Leandro; that's just south of Oakland... I too am learning to live with my disabilities, a pretty messed up spine, that I refuse to let stop me, but it's slow going, and dyslexia, a very cruel mistress: the hard part is no one can see it!
I love old stuff! Everything from history, antique firearms, tube-TV's, 78-RPM records, cars, I have a 1956 Buick Century, my first car, and of course, vintage scuba gear. I'm also a fine as well as graphic artist, my avatar is part of a painting I did of myself in my Healthways gear...
Again, welcome, I hope you'll be posting frequently!
