SCSI = Surface Consumption of Scuba Inhalation...doesn't sound good but I like it better than what Don put together above. Probably better to use the Surface Air Concumption Rate (SACR). One of my problems is that I have been trying to figure out my Suunto Cobra, and still haven't completely figured it out. For instance, on the dive below, I cannot for some reason get rid of the average depth of 88.6 feet, even though my deepest depth was 27 feet. I have my profile, but the average depth was not computed correctly. I think this threw off the SACR too. When I calculated the SACR using my ol' formula, it came out to be 0.68 ft 3/minute rather than the printed output from the computer of 0.3 ft 3/minute. Sometimes it pays to do the calculation the old fashioned way. The Argonaut Kraken has the HP port, which also allows use of these dive computers. But this also presents some potentials for error, as my Mossback Mark 3/Suunto Cobra readout has shown. Any ideas about how to better ensure that correct data is used by the dive computer? John

Yeah, not use one, and stick to paper/pencil or spreadsheet(that was an attempt at humor). The only thing I have found as a "need" is the average depth (though I am perplexed as to what yours keeps using). I do not use an AI-PDC, but selected one that is calculating average depth. Either with the NASDS "slide rules"(and I think NAUI too as I have two products), its pretty simple. I also created a interactive spreadsheet to run the numbers if I have a computer/tablet with me....

- Sea Hunt Jerry "Hogged" the Sea Hunt Argonaut at our dive in Wazee Lake last week. He was so impressed with it at Fortune Pond that he ordered one of the last two available from VDH... But he hasn't received his own unit yet... And must lean on me for use of my "Sea Hunt" serial numbered unit! (Dive photos are from Fortune Dive... Pizza photo is from Wazee Dive) - Nanette made us all "Sea Hunt Dive Club" shirts for the Wazee dive... A few of us posed with our shirts at the local pizza place. The lettering is from a Sea Hunt comic book and the artwork is from a photo of Jerry with his Porta-Sub. - The Sea Hunt Argonaut has contributed mightily to this Summer's diving fun! (BTW - Sea Hunt Jerry's shirt is printed in red to match his Argonaut hoses!)
