"Neither dark of night, nor hurricane winds, nor 20-foot waves, nor volcanic eruptions of molten lava threatening to destroy towns and cut off the highway, shall stay these Leaguers from their appointed rounds..." Happy Halloween!

I wish I could have gotten more people involved in our recent (two days ago) Leagues dive at Kapoho but it came about on short notice and we weren't sure what the conditions would be after Hurricane Iselle stomped on the place and Kilauea was about to cut off the highway with a long flow of molten lava; so my wife and I did it all by ourselves.
However, I recently found out who the stunt diver who played Nemo in Leagues was and have gotten in contact with his son. We may be diving some of the Leagues rigs on the leeward side of the island in the foreseeable future, and at that time I could use some help. I'll be posting notices and asking for interested volunteers at that time.
Hope you all have a safe and satisfying Halloween. :-)

We had fewer Trick or Treaters at the door this year due to a heavy rain storm (remnants of Pat's Hurricane off Hawaii--I don't mean that you own it, Pat, but you talked about it a lot--surely is rainy here). So I put on my mask and snorkel (Farallon mask/Swimaster mask and USD snorkel), talked through the snorkel, and it was a good costume for the night. Now, it's dark and rainy ("It was a dark and rainy night..."), and the little kiddos are back in their warm, dry homes getting a sugar high.

Same here, a little rain really affects the number of ghouls and goblins! I guess witches truly do melt when they get wet. We only had to answer the door about 5-6 times. Guess I'll have to eat all the left over candy.

It's a good thing I convinced my wife to save the one with the most chocolate for last, I love chocolate! It wasn't really raining, just a bit of mist, but we got candy left over. Man, kids are wimpy these days, a little rain never stopped us, walkin' fer miles too, and I see kids get in and out of cars going to different neighborhoods: man we'd have been ashamed of ourselves When we first moved here my neighbor tried to convince me to wear my Healthways beavertail, oval mask and fins to answer the door for the kids: she had no idea just how hot you can get, as they call them "exposure suits" for a good reason Jaybird

I hear you guys. It rains a lot here but we're rural so there are never any Trick Or Treaters coming to the door. We just stay home and take it easy now. But I miss that; Halloween was one of my favorite times as a kid. Those candy corn kernels. The big red wax lips. Chewable candies in wrappers that had images of black cats and jack o lanterns in them. Halloween is one of those times I remember the tastes of. ;-)

Jaybird, you think it gets hot in just a jacket, try being in an HC-130 Hercules jumpmastering a jump into the ocean while wearing not only a shorty suit (or sometimes a full suit), but also a scuba set, main and reserve parachute, and a Butt Boat and sticking your head into a turboprop wind stream that's been heated by those engines! That gets hot!

You could always come over to the Kona side an help with my Haunted House.....we had between 300-500 people show up. Brother, if I had time I would. But my to-do list already exceeds my life expectancy. However, on the list is a trip to the Kona side at some time in the future. There could be some opportunities there. PM me if you might be interested in participating in something like that. We just got back from town. I'm still tired from the effort of that last run. BTW: today is Bill Stropahl's 85th Birthday. Bill is the last surviving Disney Diver who played part of Captain Nemo's crew in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and just a great guy. Happy Birthday, Bill!
