Okay shipmates, here ya go! I had to create this as an "image", because if I typed it out, this site would only see it as code an none of you would be able to read it: tricky stuff that HTML-code... If you hit the preview button, you will see your results: the #1 reason why it doesn't work is you have added a space somewhereThis is what you want to use if you have "Photobucket" or want to steal an image from almost any site on the web: anyway, this is what I use... Linda, could you please pin this, as a lot of folks are always asking about this! Jaybird

Jaybird, I am trying this out with an image of Hans and Lotte Hass. We lost both of these pioneers, and I found the website, then right-clicked on the image on the website and copied the image address, not the url of the page. Let's see if it worked. John PS--It did work. Thank you Jaybird. I've been wondering how you posted those images from various places.

To steal an image that’s protected, take a screen-shot! On a PC, this is done by hitting, “Shift + Prt Scr”. Open your image editor, like “Paint” or "Adobe Photoshop” etc, then import, or paste it into a new document. Once you have it pasted in, crop it how you want it, then save it…“Ala-kazam!” you have a new image that someone didn’t want you to have… Yeah, I know, I'm bad, wicked an' evil, someone has to be Jaybird

Jaybird, at least I referenced the original URL in my post, so it is really a citation rather than a pirating. Then I went to Google and typed in John Ratliff scuba images, and found a bunch on google. Here's one by this method: It's hard to steal what is actually yours! John

Jay, I moved this to the tech section and stickied it, although I have a similar thread already with instructions right below this one. It did need updating, though, so thanks for nudging me. The instructions were for the old Proboards software, and this new board is a little different.
And I should say, I personally don't like to pirate images. It's nicer to get permission and/or credit where it came from. Obviously people do it all the time, and some images, clip art and royalty free photos, etc. don't really have an owner, so no need to credit, but as an artist I think it's nicer to get permission.
Also some sites don't allow remote loading, so if you try to insert an image and you've typed/pasted the link correctly and all and it still doesn't show, that might be why.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good image hosting site? Currently I'm using Photo Bucket, but the site has way too many ads and pop-ups and it is slow and clunky on a good day. Today I tried to post some images and it totally crashed my computer. On tries 2 and 3, I couldn't even get logged in.

As you can see, all my links to Photobucket have been blocked by Photobucket until I pay them some money. 'Don't know whether I will do that, but decided to try this off my desktop: Lamprey Dive[/IMG] Nope, no can do. Back to the drawing board. John

I thought I'd give postimages.org/ a try and so far, so good. Besides being free, the site also seems very user-friendly. The uploading and storage of images resemble what Photobucket used to be like before the current demands for money and deluge of ads. Here's a picture from my Aquala gallery, uploaded today: DRW

That’s Bill Barada in the photo, and since yellow is being offered, it’s from 1960 or later. I actually made one of those hoods one time for a guy that liked to swim, but his ears always bothered him.
