sbfn2015 This last year I had a custom 7mm 2 piece beavertail w/ twistlocks (smoothskin inside) wetsuit made by JMJ Wetsuits. They had no problem making the suit and advised they often have requests to make such suits. So beavertails & twistlocks are still available. BTW it has been a excellent made suit so far.

People have to excuse me. I'm a heterosexual male, and I would really like Hollywood to come out with a major production that prominently features at least one gorgeous woman in a beavertail wetsuit (preferrably of the black smoothskin variety) with twistlocks. I hope this post of mine doesn't come across as too prurient.

Do you know what kind of neoprene was used in making your suit, fishnbeer? Wasn't Rubatex the gold standard back in the day?

This baby is just hanging in a thrift store in Anacortes. But those may be snaps.

I have a top with short sleeves in good shape. It would be good for anyone in warmer water. Socal, Florida and the like. It's a large. PM if interested and I could always post pics.

You know I honestly don't remember what kind of neoprene they told me my suit was made of, but they said it was the least compressible material available today. As far as Rubatex, what I have been told that it is no longer available . It is a shame as Rubatex was the gold standard of wetsuit rubber in it's day. It didn't compress as much as today's rubber does. It seems that stretchy neoprene is all the rage today but IMO it is not as warm as the old Rubatex rubber. If you are looking for a brand new suit give JMJ a call as they can give good feedback on their suits. They also have a 3mm smooth skin outside beavertail model available that is cool vintage looking . BTW I got mine with smooth skin inside as it seals out water better than nylon lined inside. Takes a little more effort to get on with soapy water but well worth it in warmth. I also found that another company- AQUAFLITE will make beavertail wetsuits but it is a special request order only.

What size is it, Charlie? I think it was a medium. It looks like a suit I wore in my teens. It would have fit me in my teens. The suit is at the Kiwanis Shop in Anacortes Washington. www.anacorteskiwanis.org/Kiwanis_Shop.phpMy suit like that was stolen while hanging on the back of a 1968 VW Squareback as it was drying between dives at Monastery Beach. Good Dives, Charlie

Wow. You gotta be hard up to steal a still dripping wetsuit Thanks Charlie, let me know if you stumble across an XL or XXL 2 pc 7mm with twist locks for the beavertail. DD

How many years did Aqualung make the Super Sport wet suit? What year did they start making them?

I just found a usable condition Super Sport wetsuit that fits me this weekend. The logo is on the chest and not the arm. The US Divers/Aqualung style logo is the "post 1968" style (if I got that dated correctly?). I don't have any idea when these came out and how long they were made?, I'd love to know myself.... Although, I could have sworn I saw a magazine ad for the Super Sport Wetsuit posted somewhere online that was dated 1969... Wish I could find it again. Mark
