I just took one of my Scubairs apart prior to putting it up for sale. It's in pretty nice shape, but, although it works fine, it could use a cleanup and some o-rings. It has the double stacked exhaust mushroom setup, but only one valve. It's on the inside. I looked for a way to take the second wagonwheel off, but there's no way to do that as it's all soldered up! I guess you can finagle the new valve in and push the retainer through with a soft-ish pokey-type thingy, to use JB's technical jargon.
As I mentioned yesterday, I pool tested some regs, including a Scubair, and I liked it pretty much. The singlehose exhaust thing bugs me, but it is a pretty good breathing reg. It might not be optimal for working hard, though. I never plan to work hard under water, so I suppose that isn't a big deal for me.
My 2 Scubairs are different from each other. One has a 2 screw chrome clamp, and the other has a black "C" clip. Plastic? Neither has the internal yoke nut. Speaking of those, I think they look cool, but aren't that easy to manipulate. I prefer a "T" yoke screw. JMO....
So, I'll post some pics of the progress on it soon. I have to order a mushroom, a sintered filter, and get some o-rings for it. The 2nd stage diaphragm is good, so it's going back in after a bit of greasy greasy lovin'.

I have one Scubair and one Scubair-300. The Scubair has been my "go-to" single hose reg. this Summer. I don't think I've had my Scubair-300 in the water yet this Summer? Need to change that...
I'm guessing that the reg. with the clamp on the second stage with two-screws would be circa late 1960's? Whilst the one with the black plastic "Quick-Klip" would be later 1970's vintage? Mark

Not sure. I like the chrome clamp. Very easy to take off/put on, and it's shiny! Oooh, shiny. These are pretty regs. Here's some befores, and some afters (not necessarily in order):
It's pretty sweet!

I know I haven't been too active here lately. Thats due in large part to my disgust with Photobucket and their extortion efforts. All my photos were saved there, mostly so I could then share them here. Well I won't be paying their ransom, and so many of my older posts will forever have broken links, but I may have found an alternative. If this works My Scubair B should show below. I found that I have a bunch of photos on Google that I have been ignoring so here is a quick test to see if I have a means to re-post some of those photos. Wish me luck! DD photos.app.goo.gl/sbDOnav6NS3ubpWG3Edit: It looks like I can only add links and I'm not sure how I feel about that. But I guess a link beats nothing.

Don,
Photobucket really screwed a lot of people and their ransom demand appears all over the various forums I frequent. I agree that hosting services have the right to begin asking for money to use them, but I think it's wrong to block the pre-existing links.
I'm using Flickr, which seems pretty good now, but they could easily do the same thing to its users that PB did.

Mark Mark and Phil, that one's a '69-'70 model, as denoted by the stacked exhaust, that really funky extra-spoking on the valve-seating area and the ScubaPro cans. The Scuba Star-TDQK, which Phil also has is about a '71-'72: they went back to their original can style, but for that model only returned to the metal quick-klip but used the newer style rubber-tee and got rid of the stacked exhaust... I was trying the notations that Jaybird put into the forum below, and it still doesn't work. Nice try though. Yes, I'm about to head to Yahoo or Flickr for my photos too. John

I've heard a lot of people complain about the diaphragms on these being junk to begin with: this is not true! The one in this reg is only slightly less supple than a silicone diaphragm! I have another one that I put in my "Diver Dick" reg, that's again, very supple... Thanks again Jim: I'll be heading over to Steele's I hope Weds to get some parts, but especially that o-ring for your NED Hydrotwin-II. The second stage in them is ingenious, and I will hopefully be creating something like that for my Dacor DH with the Olympic body! Now I can't help but wonder if these Sportsways regs were the inspiration for the Voit Triest JB
