Hello The Wife and I took a drive to a local dive shop today for something to do on Christmas Eve. I snagged two 1960's era (I think?) tank packs. First off is this Sportsways Waterlung for doubles... I'm going to think positive and hope a set of small doubles comes my way sometime in the future. Next is this Dacor pack...or is it? One side has the Dacor logo. But the other side...has the tank band for a AMF/Voit "Snugpack" (bad photo, but enough of the label is left that I can read it). Is it a Voit Snugpack with a Dacor label?, or a Dacor pack with a Voit Snugpack band? Merry Christmas Mark

Mark, I vote for it being a Voit pack, gray and blue like the VCR-5 I have! I don't blame someone for trying to class it up some with a Dacor decal though JB

I just looked at the Dacor catalogs from the 1970s, and I believe you are correct, that this is a Voit backpack with a Dacor sticker.
Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Nice score, Mark. I have a couple double packs, too. One a Voit the other is a US Divers. I also have several single packs and including a Voit bit my Voit pack is all black so I'm on the hunt for a blue/gray one like yours. They're practically all the same except for the colors as far as I'm concerned, but it is nice to have a matching kit. Merry Christmas all!

Good...I was hoping it was a AMF/Voit pack... I already have a Dacor pack (Thanks Don!!) so I have one of them. Mine is black and the band is totally different, but the back pack plate is identical other than colour.
Once I get my AMF/Voit 40-Fathom up and diving, I have the pack...now I need a AMF/Voit tank...next!! Mark

I was intending to keep two, my blue label pack and this gold label, but if you don't even have one I could not think of a better home for it. The goldie is yours. DD

I need to find one of those "flat" Healthways packs someday. I do have one of the "blow mold" versions though. I could have sworn there was another Healthways blow mold type pack at a local shop? Next time I'm there I'll check it out. Mark

I need some advice possibly...
I have started cleaning the packs up, just taking them apart, cleaning the dust off, washing the webbing etc.
On the Voit... The paint is starting to peel, in large chunks. Should I...dumb idea one...peel it slightly back and put glue down in between and try to salvage the original paint? Or...two...peel it all off and repaint. I was thinking the 1960's era "Ford Engine Block Blue" would be a close match?

Mark, I vote for option #2: it might start peelin' in other spots too, eh?

It is peeling in several locations. It seems to be fairly think paint, almost like a "vinyl coating" in a way? I sort of am opting for a repaint. I think I can salvage the Dacor label and frame it? The more I look online, the more this seems like it is a Dacor pack with a Voit tank band to my eyes? I have seen a few blue Dacor packs online.
However, I think this will get "rebranded" as a "Ersatz" Voit Snugpack... Too bad there are no reproduction Voit Snugpack labels being made, at least I did not see any from my seaching. Mark
