Here is me at the end of a dive with my Healthways Scubair. Also using a US Divers tank and pack, and Cressi Pinocchio mask. This photo was taken in the only place I have dove so far, a freshwater quarry in Ohio...hoping to change that soon, but the only game in town right now. Mark

Really good viz. I wish I had something close like that.

It varies due to time of year and the number of new Divers in the water (guilty fingers pointing at me as well). All in all not a bad location, and it is close, but wanting to expand! As Summer goes one, the water warms and more Divers show up because of that, the water can get pretty murky on weekends! But on Wed. afternoons/evenings it can be some great diving. Mark

J-Valve, SPG and reg. set to "Auto-Reserve", just to see if they all worked. They did, felt the restriction, pulled the J-Valve and stayed in the water for a bit after that. We were playing around in 15' depth and we very close to the entry point, so I was not taking any serious risk, got out with 400 PSI remaining. I sometimes thing that being in shallow water and looking at nesting Bluegill, Catfish and their eggs, etc. are just as interesting as a deeper dive?
Also in the photo late 1970's Dacor depth gauge, Casio dive watch (inexpensive, but great watch) Healthways Combo SPG/Depth Gauge, ScubaPro Jet Fins, Sea Suits of California Wetsuit... Mark

Mark Mark, Just so you'll know, you were using both reserves, the J-valve and the restrictor orifice. If you want to extend your dive time a bit, you can use either one or the other. If you use the "Auto-reserv" alone, move the J-valve to the down position. If you wish to use the J-reserve alone, set the Scubair regulator to "J-valve." Or, if you like the double reserve arrangement, continue to use both. John

I like having "two reserves". Once I feel the restrictor start to work I pull the J-Rod and dive until I feel the restriction start again. Now bear in mind that the diving I do with this one so far has been shallow short dives near the entry point. If I were diving with a group, I'd use the J-Valve configuration, also I have a mid-70's Healthways SPG on this reg, so I don't freak the other Divers out by not having a readable air gauge...Haha!
I dive the same way with my SCUBA, but the restrictor is not optional (unless I drill it out larger, which is not going to happen...). I can feel the restrictor plate start to work, pull the rod and either surface and get out, or if near the entry point and shallow I can play in the water until the restrictor kick in again. Mark

Mark, I like that first image the best! Gosh, those HW's don't look like anything else: no way you could mistake it for some other brand, can you?

Nope, not at all... The exhaust really stick out, never saw it that way until I saw these photos. Looks like tail fins on a late 50's Cadillac...well maybe in a way? I'm really liking the Cressi Pinocchio mask as well! Mark
