International Underwater Photography Winning Photos

The Atlantic recently published the winning photos for 2017. Even though is is not "vintage" it is in a sense, since this is why we dive, to see these wonderful scenes.

John, I think I liked the Hammerhead image the best. It reminded me of a few things. Firstly, the Ford FX-Atmos:



and secondly, it reminded me of the really cool Oceanic/Pacific Islander Art: in that, at first glance all seems symmetrical, but the slight asymmetry is what makes it come alive. In places like Papua New Guinea, it's believed that things that are decorated have a life of their own, but only if the said design is asymmetrical with a very subtle variation:
