Also, if you can hold this steady in a vice, with a couple layers of cardboard between it and the jaws of the vice, I think this would be a better method than holding the valves on tanks: why? Because you'll be fighting the tapered end too if you don't. Look at my image and you can see how the nut floats back and forth, right? That is another point of friction holding it on/in... Does this make sense?

TD, carefully place it in a vice: you're wanting to have it stand on end. Next, carefully ad oil to the area where the threads are: on the opposite side feed the oil into tapered end. Do this on the other side, letting each application sit 24-hours. If you can do it twice each side before even attempting a removal I think you'd have better results. JB Awesome idea Jay! I'll attempt that tonight and then try it again tomorrow! If this does not work I'll try heat. And finally if all else doesn't work, I'll take it to a scuba store or a machinist. Either way, it'll get fixed TD

Please be patient, these things can take time. Also, make sure you use a BFW: big (expletive deleted) wrench: Charlie has assured us that that is very technical scuba jargon too! Try slipping a strong piece of pipe over the wrench to get better torque: the longer, the better, like two feet or more! It might break with a very loud POP! and give way, so please be careful, you don't want to go sailing into something... JB EDIT: and no matter what, wear safety-glasses, you don't want to be known as Popeye...

The BFW is a good friend of mine, I happen to have one that fits the job I'll find some appropriate pipe to slide over the wrench too. And safety glasses are a must, I don't want to be a one-eyed diver. My vision is already degrading! TD

TD, I understand you have a guardian-angel looking out for you as of very late! But I just noticed something about these manifolds: the nuts have a small hole on one of the facets, that's where ya wanna drop some penetrating oil as well also, too, because, fer more better oylingz. I think Penn Oyl (penetrating oil) is Olive Oyl's brother... JB

Here's a thought: if you can get the right-side off, you can have a j-valve and an extra post for running your peripherals...
