Hi Russ, welcome! So, is it Horseshoe Falls you dive then? Can you tell us more about yourself and your gear?

Saying hello!!!! I love diving the vintage equipment!!! Do you do drift dives in the Niagara river? I hear people always telling me about how neat they are. Welcome to the board. Lots of helpful people here! TD

Hello back!! There's lots of diving in the Niagara area being surrounded by two lakes and the upper and lower Niagara rivers.I dive the lower river mostly because it's deeper and you never know what you will see or find. So easy diving just let the current take you.
As for old gear I've been very lucky to find some really cool stuff over the years!! I've got two sets of the U.S.diver triple tanks one set is the enclosed triple 30s and a rare set of the double 38s the aircraft tanks from the old dive supplies Surpreme divers. 8 sets of working U.S. diver double hoses regs back packs harness lots of old compasses, depth gauges, knifes etc. I'll post some pics soon. I have modern tech diving equipment too but love the old stuff it's so easy on and off.
I bought a large pontoon boat recently and will do charter this coming summer in the Niagara area with a vintage dive every Wednesdays. I hope something can beworked out with the border and be able to pick up diver from both countries and all diver together.

Sounds Good. I’m located in a few minutes south of Toronto, and I know some other vintage chaps in the area. Would definitely be willing to participate in a vintage dive event on this side of the border when COVID is under control.
There’s a super easy thread about how to post an image on this website that JayBird made. It’s under tech support. Let’s see those triple tanks!

Saying hello!!!! I love diving the vintage equipment!!! Mussel, I see that you dive a lot in fresh water, the Niagra River to be specific. And by your name, thought you'd enjoy seeing the Western Pearlshell mussel, Margaritifera falcata (Gould, 1950). I happened to observe these mussels spawning in 1984, the only time in well over 50 years of diving here in Oregon. This photos comes from my dives in the North Umpqua River near Roseburg, Oregon USA. Mussels spawning8a by John Ratliff, on Flickr Photo using a Nikonos II camera, 35mm lens, probably set at about F-8, using color negative film and a strobe (probably my Subsea 150 strobe, before it became unusable due to the expense of the 510V battery). It's great to see you here. I think you'll really enjoy this site. John
