Actually, yes - I have 2 forms of breakdowns. One is a copy of Fred Roberts' book and the other is a .bmp file of it. I can at least e-mail a copy of the parts breakdown page I have.
You might wanna keep on eye out on eBay for copies of Fred Roberts' books that appear on and off. Great to have! I have one and am currently purchasing another copy for my 'travel' bible.

There are some photos and posts on the R-4 at this site: groups.msn.com/SKINANDSCUBADIVING1950s-1980s/shoebox.msnwAssuming your HP and LP seats, diaphragms, hoses, and flapper valves are OK, there is only one adjustment to be made on an R-4. Put the regulator on a tank with 300 psi (The non-balanced intermediate pressure varies inversely with tank pressure). Turn the little screw in the center clockwise until you hear a leak. Back off until it stops. That's it. It will breathe easiest at low tank pressure. The R-4 is not the easiest breathing of regulators (maybe double diaphragms means double effort?), but they work OK, look nice, and are really rugged.

:)Your interest in the Dacor regs struck a bell or turned on a light in this dimly lit brain! I have the complete Dacor repair manual. It is 8-11/2 x 11 loose leaf bound with no apparent publication date idenified. It addresses all the Dacor products encluding the R-4, the C-3 and the C-3n double hose regulators with step by step disassembly, repair/repacement of parts, re-assembly, adjustment, and trouble shooting the assembled unit. The document is composed of eleven (11) 8-1/2 X11 pages with exploded 8-1/2 x 11 views of the R-4, C-3 & C-3n. I also have a number of other historical repair manuals which I will inventory upon my return from vacation. A fast review has revealed I have all of the US Divers ( I attended the repair courses on a yearly basis from the first one in 1963 (?) to late 1970s --My son and hier apparent was the youngest to ever attend USD repair course--age 12!-he is now a Doctor in Dayton) I note that I also have most of the Voit, White stag, Scuba Pro, Sea pro, and several odd ball repair manuals, etc, etc. If it is economically feasible for me to remove them from the binders, travel to Office Max, reproduce the items, return home, package them, take them to the post office and mail them, then I will make the appropriate pages of the repair manuals avaliable to interested divers at a nominal fee ($$$$) From what I have read in the posts by all you late model bubblers experts these are items that are lacking and are dearly needed in your armentarium of knowledge and certainly in the reseach library on your shelf. No I do not have a price at this time nor can or will I send you a copy until I return from BAJA. BUT---is there interest SDM ;D Dennis--what issue of SDM did the "Nolte" regulator advertisement of Central Skin divers appear ? Year, month, page???
