I'm sure some of you are familiar with the old problem replacing later, unobtainable Snark Silver poppets. Several of us have been working on this. I've modded a USD square poppet cup by cutting off the shaft, drilling and threading the hole and installing a custom post. This is a potentially great way to make the early Snarks rebuildable by using a USD style poppet puck. There are issues with this which we can address later. In order to use an early style poppet in a later regulator, you need to drill out the Silver cover so the larger early post will fit OR a new guide/cover is required. I just made a few adapter covers. This is a new custom poppet and a new custom cover: This is a photo of two new ones and the OEM Silver cover: And here is a Silver regulator with a custom old style poppet and a custom cover installed: I hooked it up and it works great!

Phil FYI I have late model Snarks with 2 different length pins on the poppets. The one I have with a HP port uses a longer one

Hey Skip, Is one a "peacock" case and the other the plain type? Also, does the one with an HP port have an integrated first stage "nozzle"? There seem to be 3 kinds of silver: the traditional "peacock"; the one with an HP port but with a removeable nozzle; and the latest one with a cast in nozzle. I have had all 3 Silvers, but never noticed that the poppet length is different. I wonder why that would be? I have no idea where I got them, but I have two poppets with 2 1/2" pins. They are identical at the head to Snark Silver poppets. Do you happen to have the measurements of the two poppets?

Phil FYI I have late model Snarks with 2 different length pins on the poppets. The one I have with a HP port uses a longer one I owed few snark, almost from the early, to the latest model. I notice that one my second generation poppet, is a little short that the others, I thought that it was due to the thickness of the mould rubber part, or another reason. But it interfere not with the work of the second stage in my case, I use the screw on the lever to set levers hight. Normally according with the documentation I seems that nemrod used only two types of poppet. Respectfully Fred

Regarding some of my silvers poppets, one of them seems to have been shortened by cutting the pin π€
