I've been tinkering with some case modifications for various projects, and I always come back to one factor: diaphragm size. I understand that a larger diaphragm confers some mechanical advantage. However, it seems to me that that advantage is offset somewhat by the larger amount of air your lungs have to move before activating the lever. The Trieste seems to get away with a positively tiny diaphragm compared to other double hose regs. Can someone comment on this who has seen both designs? Thanks.

I don't think it makes any difference if the diaphragm is large or small when your underwater. If it breaths easy like my MISTRAL does, don't worry, just have fun diving.
