Sorry for all the posts, but I bought a strap wrench, tried to turn the plastic bottom off of the Titan I got, and it won't budge. Any ideas? I'm almost to the point of removing it via the time honored hacksaw method, but I would prefer not to butcher the parts.

Creed, Don't do that, don't cut it off, it simply screws off. Have you tried immersing it it hot water (almost boiling) for a period and getting it off when the plastic is much warmer? I think the strap wrench may be hurting, rather than helping too, but tightening the plastic against the threads of brass. I'd try warming the plastic up a lot (in water, not with a torch or something like that), then possible very gently nudging it with a rubber mallet, obliquely, after perhaps tapping it around its periphery. But please don't cut it off--there has to be a better way than that. Oh, and as a maintenance engineer had to remind me more than once, "Lefty loosey, righty tighty." Here's the AMF Voit cut sheet on this regulator (if you want a copy of it in high definition, please PM me your e-mail address): John

Sorry, John, you're right. I was just a bit frustrated, and wrote that post immediately after I walked in from the garage. I'm going to soak the reg in cleaner for a while, and see if it doesn't loosen up. Thanks.

Creed,
I've had a similar problem with the box on my Sherwood Magnum Blizzard (old style), and heating under hot water really does help with the plastic for getting that cover off.

Indeed, it worked. Now, can anyone tell me how the 1st stage housing assembly(part number 10 on the diagram) comes out? It looks like a specialized tool was used to remove the part.

Searat, I just need you on speed dial I was about to reply "no", when I remembered a little pair of those round needle nose pliers used in jewelry making that were hanging on the garage wall. Walked out, found it, stretched the jaws waaay out, and yes, it worked. Thanks again John! Well, it's presently getting close to 2AM. I need to curb my enthusiam for the evening and get some sleep. Although I can already tell that I am going to be useless at work, plotting my next move.
