Hi!
Dan just sent me an email about this forum, and I've just signed on.
I'm Pat Regan, AKA "Captain Nemo". I know that's cliche, and a lot of my friends use that handle, too: mostly divers, subbers, fans of 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA, or a combination of all three. It's all in fun.
I live and work in Hawaii; but my hobby is underwater technologies, and I run a private shop called VULCANIA SUBMARINE where I built the NAUTILUS MINISUB, NEMOSUIT, and am presently working on the NAUTILUS DIVER: a functional replica of the gear worn by Nemo's crew. Those wishing to see more about these projects might try the pages given to me by the DUTCH JULES VERNE SOCIETY:
www.phys.uu.nl/~gdevries/nautilus/nautilus.html
and
www.phys.uu.nl/~gdevries/nautilus/suit.html
I expect to have a page up for the NAUTILUS DIVER project when it's finished in about a month.
I've also had two websites of my own for almost two years: one dealing with HOMEBUILT SUBMARINES and the other dedicated to Disney's 20,000 LEAGUES and our work here at VULCANIA SUBMARINE. Everything's down right now except the homepages while I revamp with improved graphics. When they are back up I'll make an announcement here; and Dan, VINTAGE SCUBA gets a link for sure.
Some background information on myself. I grew up in California and made my first faceplate from a surplus gas mask in 1957. Started SCUBA diving in 1965. Presently have a growing collection of vintage gear including numerous hardhats, a DRAEGER NORMALAIR, Aquamaster DA, and conventional equipment ranging over the past 30 years or so.
I think what Dan is doing here with VINTAGE SCUBA is great. We need a place to get parts and service; and now this forum will allow us to share thoughts and ideas related to this subject. Very cool! Thanks, Dan!
Best Regards,
Pat
