Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to install new hoses? Specifically on a double hose, what is the best way to get a new exhaust hose over the duckbill exhaust valve without shifting the duckbill?

Don't laugh.....I usually use a lot of spit and just wipe it around the outside of the duckbill and on the inside of the hose. You have to work quickly but it works great for me! If the connection is real tight I use a little bit of hand soap to get things moving smoothly!

Bart: Try using a bit of corn starch. I rub a small amount of it on the inside of the hose, and also on the duckbill valve after it has been installed and folded over the exhale port of the reg. This makes for a nice dry and smooth installation which has worked great for me every time. While sliding the hose on over the port/duckbill valve you can also hold the duckbill valve in place by holding the folded over portion with your thumb and a couple of fingers while you slide the hose in place with the other hand. With both surfaces coated with corn starch the duckbill valve tends to stay in place since the corn starch makes it pretty dry and slippery between the two surfaces. Hope this helps, and safe diving to you! Terry

Firstly you flapper valve has to be installed corectly. What I mean by this is , it must contact the exhaust port cleanly with no water ,grease, talk etc that will cause it to slid when the hose is slipped over the top. When the two surfaces are clean the flapper valve grips like you know what. All it takes now is a good dusting of talk on the valve and inside of the hose and over it goes with no distortion
