Im pretty new here, but after looking around, can't find any vin. dives here in CT. Are there any vin. guys here? Whats the chance that a dive could be put togetehr? I haven't looked across at another diver, and seen a double in 25 years, seems like it would be a bunch of fun!

We'll have to do one. Maybe a PADI shop can organize it for us

If you want to see double hose divers you would have to come to Minnesota.

Hey Rich, Looks like it's just you and me in the local vintage dive, at least the odds are better for the prize drawing!

We had five vintage divers at the quarry dive at blue springs Indiana yesterday. ROB, CHUCK, GREG, ALLAN, and Karl. Several girls came by with modern computerized regulators covered with "D" rings, and we showed them the way to do it right. They threw their single hose plastic regulators away after trying our double hosers, and said they would go straight home and watch ebay for some double hosers they could buy........ the older, the better!

We did have agreat time at Blue Springs Quarry in WALDRON IN. The water temp was about 65 in the first 20 feet and a 5mm suit was plenty to keep us warm. My first dive was a soggy one as one of my mouthpiece valves in my royal went KAPUT. thanks goodness that Allan, a great Czech, had a spare DA that Chucko had just rebuilt. A little switch from my soggy Royal to the Chucko DA and away I was looking for hoses to cut. It was also great to meet Karl, even if he has outbid me on a few hundred regs on EBAY. I think that karl will make a great addition to our dive group. Greg and Karl both had some fancy cameras and I suspect that some pics will follow on the VSS site? ROB

The dive at Blue Springs was great. Not only was Bruxton Chuck there, I was able to listen to his radio show before and after the dives. Wow, what a hoot!!! My Royal tuned and adjusted by Bryan breathed fantastic. My DA was also good, having the Bruxton Chuck touch. Rob was able to use it on the second dive as his Royal had a torn exhaust valve in the mouthpiece. Just why is a wonder, but maybe we hadn't better go there. I was able to meet the Ebay famous Karl and should have, but didn't use his Aqualung Mistral that was the talk of this forum a while ago. I just love my "originals" so much, the thought of that new reg sort of turns my stomach. Sort of like Firestones on a Conestoga Wagon. If anyone wants a real neat, quality T-shirt, contact Rob aka realivan for one of his newest additions. I now have the Voit and his new one and can not wait for the next installment. A great time was had by all.

It was a turning point in my diving experience. I am moving backward in technology and gear. I enjoyed diving with Rob, Chuck, Allan, & Greg. I promise to digress into older vintage gear in the future!

Friday my team from work was drilling at Lake Rawlings in VA. Since a couple of us got there early we decided to get in a fun dive before work. When I pulled out my Aquamaster, only one other guy at the quarry had even seen one in person before.
25 minutes, 55 feet, bottom temp around 60. 3mm suit with hooded vest, steel 72 with Sportsways J valve, Super Rocket fins, Pacifica Mask (thanks Ryan), Seatec Sunfish.
Our Instructor/Divemaster was getting setup when I came out of the water. As I walked by he stopped me and asked about my power inflator, so I showed him the CO2 cartridge. Was the most fun dive of the day.

When I was much younger, and slimmer. I was certified with my dacor vest, and my us divers "Hydro lung" now todays students may laugh, but in over 30 years of divin, I never had an incident, not even a close call. Most of my divin is alone. I have no log book, no nothing but fun memories. I get sick when people say I need a BC before i can dive, as well as other gizmos. Most of the time I am so dialed in on weight , I dont even need the dacor vest. I do use it out in a lake, or in the ocean when I get far away from the boat and have to swim back, but these clowns that razz me about my old stuff are ignorant of what real fun diving is.
