I drove down to Blue Springs on Friday and met up with Broxton Chuck & Simonbeans. We passed around our finer regulators and admired the collection we had assembled. We proceeded to get ready to dive and then made the long trek to Blue Spring. Broxton Chuck & Simonbeans both wore single 72's and I wore a set of double 72's. Simonbeans used his square label RAM, I used my 1958 DA-AM (with original yellow hoses & mouthpiece) and I believe that Broxton Chuck used his Broxton (go figure ;D ). After making sure that the Manatees had left the spring (a lesson we learned at Nemrod's expense ;D ) we actually dove the spring and had a great time. We burned max air on our double hose regulators and Simonbeans took numerous pictures. On the drift back to the entry/exit platform Simonbeans & I saw a huge Gar. Simonbeans followed it slowly and it turned broadside to Simonbeans who said he was able to get about 5 pictures of it. Once we got back to our vehicles we packed up and went to Pier 16 for some great seafood. After some good conversation (and lots of shrimp) I had to say good bye to drive back to Orange Park (for my daughter’s basketball game). A great time was had by each of us and I'm looking forward to the pictures Simonbeans took and Broxton Chuck & Simonbeans posts about their week-long diving trip (better known as the "scouting sites for SD III" vacation). Thanks to Broxton Chuck & Simonbeans for being incredible Vintage Dive Buddies!

I must admit that I'm spoiled living in Florida with the springs so close. What I really enjoy is to have my fellow Vintage Divers visiting and being able to dive with them!

Mr. jes, my wife and i took a trip in 2000 down to florida and we did the snorkling with the manatees in the crystal river. i thought at the time it would be fun to return with scuba and explore springs like we saw then. i now know enough fine vintage diving folk to someday return to florida, with my 'ol crusty mistral, and really have a good time again. mike

...and BOTH of you guys need to make it to the 3rd Annual Vintage Dive Assembly this year! Point well taken. There is not a larger assembly of Vintage Divers anywhere in the world then the Vintage Dive Assembly held annually at Lake Wazee!
