--been lurking for a while, so I thought I should make my presence known. I learned to snorkel and scuba back in the early 1960s, when no one had seen a single-hose regulator and there was no PADI or NAUI-- then, for reasons unknown to me, I just sort of got away from it, and now I'm getting back into it. (I'll be starting from scratch, until I feel more comfortable diving with the old rigs.) I live in south Tacoma, WA, right behind McChord AFB, and am active on some other boards, mostly having to do with shooting, my other big hobby. I've always been more of a lake diver than open-water, but who knows, that may change. I have a nearly-new DA Aquamaster from the Pico Ave. era, and early Mistral and Navy-Approved rigs which are in severe need of rebuilding, so the guys crew in Oregon (yer pardon, Linda, ma'am) will soon be my best friends! ;D See you on the boards-- Lee

I'm all over it, Duckbill! This place is a ton of fun! I'm hoping Mossback still has some of those yellow hoses left-- They'll look awful sweet on my DA. Now if I can just find my old flatplate mask in my folks' garage-- ETA: And shame on me-- Thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome. My wife is from Seattle and I dive about once a year up in your neck of the woods. Nothing like surfacing from a dive in Gig Harbor and seeing Mt. Ranier in the distance. If you want a good experience diving in the Sound give Rick a call at Bandito Charters right there in Tacoma. You live in a great area for diving. You'll be glad you got back in to it.

Thanks, Shackle, I'll check it out-- I need to get certified and get some more modern equipment before I can do anything. Seems like all the schools want me to drive clear up to Seattle for my pool work-- that's like 90 miles from here in Spanaway, through the heavy-traffic corridor, so not real easy to do. Found a place a little closer, but still a 45-minute drive, and working in the opposite direction doesn't help, buy where there's a will there's a way. ;D

Hey, ductapeman, How did you cross a word out like you did on your original post? I can't figure out the trick. Thanks.

Hey, ductapeman, How did you cross a word out like you did on your original post? I can't figure out the trick. Thanks. Really simple, Duckbill, although the explanation is a bit long-winded-- when you have the Reply window open, look up above the Text window, where you type your message-- first you have the row of Smilies, and above that is a row of Tags, and that is where it gets interesting. This Board has more than most, so here are the ones I know about from other Boards: left to right, Bold type (highlight the text by dragging the cursor over it and then hit the button), Italics, Strikeout (that's how I did thet that), Glow, Shadow, Marquee (moving text), Justify Left (text is lined up to the left border), Justify Center, Justify Right, and from there I'm going to need to fiddle with them to see what they do. The one that looks like a globe should connect a bit of text to a hyperlink, so it takes you to a webpage. All this is usually referred to as Bulletin Board Code, or BBC, and the code (like what shows up on the Text page when you hit a smilie) used to have to be typed in by hand back in the Bad Old Days of the 80386(now I'm really dating myself!)-- the use of all this can allow you to be [glow=red,2,300]really expressive[/glow] in your writing. Gawd, I love to listen to myself talk!

Thanks, JES-- that's the format I'm used to. Some boards use :s: or ::s:: -- the brackets are clean and quick. The frontstroke / is the "close" statement.

O.K. Let's see. I knew bold, italics, underline, insert picture, font size, and color, so it's my own fault for not playing with the others. [glow=blue,2,300]Thankyou[/glow] [shadow=red,left,300]Thankyou[/shadow]
[glow=green,2,300]Thankyou[/glow] Oh, here we go, Thankyou!
