Hi Linda; Lets hear some more on the Great Gasket Debate by Scoobiedoo and Bryan. I love it, it's better than a Political Debate.

I agree with Linda who stated "-- really, you are two of our best. But the vintage diving community is small, and so let's hope it remains unified as well... "
Having had the opportunity to dive and spend time with Bryan I can personally attest to the fact that he is without question an honest, above-board individual. I would not hesitate to buy from him and more importantly dive again with him.
I have only corresponded with Mike via email and PM's but he seems to be an upstanding individual as well.
Unfortunately, small disagreements can lead to large divisions that are sometimes never repaired. I sure hope that this debate does not lead to this.

Yes, our first little drama... I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later, as is the case when people exchange ideas. You're right Joe, about large divisions, which is why I initially locked the topic. I think any further escalation in a public forum might affect the positive community atmosphere that we are trying to maintain here. After further consideration, I removed the thread entirely. Sorry, Frans - you'll have to turn back to politics. I think a healthier discussion would be to point out the fact that assorted vintage divers have banded together, in a way, to provide previously unavailable parts to the vintage diving community... So far it has been difficult for any one person to afford the tooling, etc. to make most parts. And so it has developed, over time, in such a way that different people provided this or that... Stuart Jefferies made colored hoses and duckbills, Ron Benson made mouthpieces and cages, etc., Dan has had both styles of hoses made, along with gray ones and assorted other things over the years.... And now Bryan has his kits, and Mike the Aquabuddy. So far it has been a really positive thing for all vintage divers. Let's hope it continues.

Linda, Well done and I commend your decision and handling of this issue. The various parties who have made repair parts available to the rest of us are to be commended. Without each and every one of them, the rest of us would find our hobby/passion much more difficult to participate in. I still thank Dan Barringer everytime I dive my Trieste II. Dan transformed my Trieste from merely a wall display into an excellent diveable regulator.

Thanks, guys. It was a tough decision! I hate editing or censoring anyone, but in this case... Well, it was just me in my best bar-room voice yelling "Take it outside - yer wreckin' the place!"

Linda, Agreed. America is indeed the land of freedom & opportunity were everyone is free to pursue their interests, beliefs, dreams, etc.
IMO there is plenty of opportunity for everyone offering vintage gear and accessories. It is our love for vintage gear, history, etc. is why we offer supplies and parts to service these old regs. If anyone had intended to become wealthy in our endeavor we would have pursued something more lucrative and profitable! We do it because we enjoy it!
Freedom of choice is always welcomed! That why we have Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and imports as well!
Besides, a little competition keeps everyone on their toes!
In good diving!
