Hi guys, just an update on two things. First, a while back you may remember I spent a lot of cash buying an old Voit 50-Fathom blue plastic reg. $610 to be exact. It was far from what I expected it to be when it arrived in the mail from the Ebay seller. BUT NOW IT'S ANOTHER STORY, ;D the reg is in final assembly courtesy the talented hands of Mr. Bryan Pennington (Missourireb). I decided to restore this reg to as neat a state as it could be done. I had Bryan have many of the parts smoothed out (take gouges out of metal surfaces) and had many parts chromed. I've seen a photo of the chromed parts and they looked fabulous. I'll post photos and a story of the reg when I get it back from Bryan and put on the new gray hoses with the orig mouthpiece and new hose clamps and mouthpiece valves.
The other item is the Silver Springs vintage dive. I'm getting in touch with the management this week about whether or not they'll let us dive there a little later this year. Haven't really gotten to the point of working out a date yet. So, please stay tuned and I'll put this info up this week if they come thru, take care, Jack.

I am so glad to here that you got that VOIT up and running Jack. I knew that if anyone could get it working, Bryan was going to get it working! I am looking forward to seeing photos of it and hopefully seeing it in person in the Silver Springs. I just managed to get a really neat Flat Black powder coated USD from Bryan and it looks very cool. I cannot say enough times to all of you vintage scuba geeks.....if you are looking for a vintage reg check out what Bryan has for sale on EBAY or on his website. He is top notch and an asset to the community...... ROB

I am sure that Bryan is indeed top-notch.
However, I cannot say enough times to all you vintage scuba aficionados, stop by Vintage Scuba Supply first. After all, it is where you are NOW! ;D

Linda is absolutely right. Yes, I am having Bryan currently rebuild my Voit, but have also had Dan rebuild a Mistral which I sold to him a while back. This Mistral is one of two Dan currently has up for sale on this site. In fact, I loved that Mistral so much after Dan rebuilt it, I am now in touch with him about buying it back. Now that's testimonial! I personally encourage everyone to work with both of these guys in your pursuit to pursue our beloved sport of vintage diving. Just think how lucky we all are to not only have two guys that love this sport like we do, but have an incredible desire and talent to "rebuild " our regs. Stay with Dan and Bryan, take, Jack Wilhelm.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.
Dan is my 1st stop for a big percentage of the parts I use! He is a great guy and alway 1st with advice or help when needed. And lord knows I can use all I can get of both!
We all owe Dan and Linda a huge debt of gratitude for providing this great forum for all of us. And a big thank you to them for putting up with us as well.

Dan and Linda have always been there for help when I have needed them, without fail. Dan has come through with hard to find parts and advice many many times in the past for me. Dan's gear, as well as Bryans is top notch, and you can't go wrong with either. Buyers must remember, you pay for what you get, and those I have heard say their gear is high priced, must remember you are dealing with 40 year old gear, and knowledge of repair and parts are not cheap, especially when your life is on the line. Again many thanks from me, for the past help and future-- both Dan and Bryan have been very good friends.------Ron MIller

Awww, you guys are too much, and Bryan, you are very gracious. Group hug!!! I enjoy taking part in this forum, which is a good thing because as you have probably noticed, Dan rarely has time for it! But I do like it, and I'm not even a diver - just the resident web geek (although I will snorkel...) However, if we ever have a vintage dive in our area, I totally volunteer to be in charge of the beer.

Hi Jack, I'm Dan and Linda 's friend from Minnesota, and an avid Seahunt collector.Currently I have over 60 original 16mm films transferred to DVD. I have visited Silver Springs numerous times.According to my friend Kent Rockwell from the HDS its almost IMPOSSIBLE to dive there.Believe it would have to be a movie being produced or HDS official function.
Please let me know if any progress was made to set up diving there, costs etc. Jerry Lang Inland Vintage divers club #2

Hi Jerry, you said it right, impossible to dive there without knowing god. The permitting process to do anything there doesn't even come close to allowing a group like our's to do a "social dive." Everything sorta scientific! Sorry, I tried. Maybe something else will come up, take care, Jack.
