There is some footage here that I've never seen. It is pretty interesting too, including a very heavy-sea diving exit which pulled off one of the Cousteau diving units from the diver while he was on the ladder. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwBTKqqrND4John

WOW--COOL! Watched about a minute of it, I'll watch the rest with my wife... Kinda fascinated by whoever was teasing the grouper-fish--yeah, REALLY stupid idea there...
Been meaning to ask, do we know who built the Soucoupe for Cousteau?

Jaybird, I don't know who built it, but Cousteau patented it. www.google.com/patents/US3103195?dq=Cousteau&hl=en&sa=X&ei=rqkaUeSyFbDmiwKQ54GgBA&ved=0CE4Q6AEwCAI just got out my copy of Cousteau's The Living Sea[/B] and see that Chapter fifteen is titled "Diving Saucer." In it Cousteau documents their testing of hull #1, which was to be pressure tested to 2,000 feet. But on recovery, its line parted just below the surface, and it sank in 3300 feet of water. Cousteau couldn't proceed with the second hull until he had varified the design by pressure test, and was about to launch a recovery mission when they found it on sonor, 30 feet above the bottom at 3300 feet--it was intact. So they went ahead with building the second hull into a vehicle. [/B], Harper and Roe Publishers, 1963, page 279. [/Quote] John

This is the film I was thinking about, but lost the link to, when I posted above. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD5CNkEl-D0For those who think diving aboard the Calypso was all fun and games, watch the exits at about 4 minutes into this film. Jaybird, you mentioned Albert Falco's arms before; this shows those arms in action. John

John, I tried to watch the video, but when I clicked on the link, I got a message from You Tube saying the video is no longer available. Weird.

WOW... www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLYBWkySEBQGosh, I was getting so excited watching this: submarines are so (expletive-deleted) cool! Geepers narrated by Rod Serling even: this is exactly why I wanted to dive. Jaybird
