We are having a great discussion on the Sportsways Malibu regulator in the General Discussion area, and I noted that there was a TV show called Malibu Run, or The Aquanauts, that featured Sportsways scuba exclusively. I went looking for it, and did find a short segment on You Tube for The Aquanauts. But then I found this Sea Hunt episode, Season 4, Episode 26, which had imbedded into it a segment of The Aquanauts, but called it "Dempsey of the Deep." The episode itself is pretty good, but having a competitor's episode featured, and Mike Nelson avidly watching it, was very interesting. It had the characteristic yellow hood on the diver, and Sportsways regulators.

I had no idea there were other underwater T.V. shows besides Sea Hunt and Assignment Underwater!. I'll have to try and find some episodes of The Aquanauts.
BTW John, I've seen every episode of Sea Hunt, some two or three times, and the one you posted has a quote I've used a few times: "Money not earned, will buy you nothing but trouble." I was conversing with a co-worker the last time I quoted Mike Nelson and she actually said she thought it was a good bit of advise, maybe I'll start a Sea Hunt Quote trend or something.

Hmmmm: don't know if any y'all noticed, but Sea Hunt, Assignment Underwater and The Aquanauts all ended in 1961! What's up with that; did scuba all of the sudden become gauche? Jaybird

I'm 95% certain these shows are in the realm of public-domain, which is why not many companies want to even touch them. There are companies out there like Kino Video who remaster old films. I wonder if somewhere like the UCLA Film and Television Archive would have them. BTW if any of you are ever in the LA area, it's a super cool place to visit; you can go there and watch obtuse/obscure old stuff, FOR FREE!!!!

I watched that episode and I am surprised that the Youtube copy is cleaner than the DVD set that I bought on fleebay a few years ago. I guess the guy who recorded the when I bought mine did a relatively poor job cause this one seems pretty clear. I didn't see any Aquanaut episodes when I searched Youtube. Bummer. Looks promising. Did you find any Jaybird?
