I posted this on another excellent but mostly modern diver board and got no response. In the 1967 Nov. issue of Skin Diver magazine there was a long adventure story about a place approx 80 miles out of Lake Charles La. called the "Valley of the Rays". I do not believe this place to be the Stetson Banks or Flower Gardens, places that I have dived. This story has intrigued me since I was a child. Do any of you old time divers recall such a place or know about it? This story was in Skin Diver before they became a travel brochure and propaganda wing for Padi. I am posting this on a vintage board because it was a vintage dive in a vintage era using vintage equipment in a vintage magazine so I hope it is not PC incorrect. Thanks in advance if you know of this place. Nemrod

I seem to recall hearing or reading about it. Try contacting Dick Wilgus at Dive Toledo in Manny, LA. He has done a lot of commercial and sport diving in that area of the gulf and might know.
