It's a BARE 5mm. It was not advertised as "Semi-dry" but it has gussets in the calves and fore arms. And, once in awhile when I finish a dive there might be a few spots where the inside fabric is still dry. I don't use this suit very much because I don't like the buoyancy characteristics of thick wetsuits. Mostly I use my BARE 3mm Elastek suit with a 3/5mm hooded vest. Also lately I've been using my Vintage style Elios 2 piece suit in 3mmm... Also with the 3/5mm hooded vest. I dive this way in Fortune Pond with temperatures down to 42 F. This doesn't keep me COZY warm, but it's warm enough while giving good buoyancy characteristics.
Here's how a typical dive goes at Fortune: Head down to the 65 foot ledge and the cold feels extreme at first. Then I get a little numb (I think) and I'm perfectly comfortable to dive in the 40-42 degree temps at 60-80 feet... For about 30 minutes. I used to stretch it to 40 minutes but left me shivering immediately after my dives. Last year I timed most dives to 30 minutes and made sure to get out of the wetsuit and into dry clothes immediately... And I had very little shiver time.
Here's my big no-no: Once acclimated to the cold at 60-80 feet water, don't come up to the warm 30 ft water and then go back to the cold. It gives me a chill that I can't get acclimated to again.
