Fortune Pond Dive Report Sept 26-27 - We were absolutely blessed with Cloudless blue skies and 75-80 degree temperatures for this trip... Plus the drive up was loaded with brilliant colors of the peak Fall colors. These are the conditions we hoped for but can never expect for this late in the year... Other years we've seen snow flurries! - Diving conditions were a little different this trip. The normally crystal clear water was cloudy down to about 40 feet depth and then the clarity returned to its usual spectacular levels below that. The deeper divers said it got cloudy again at 135 feet deep. I for one enjoyed the 60 ft depth mostly as I was able to "fly" along the edge of a ridge and look both up and down the underwater terrain with long distance views. - On the equipment front, a definite highlight was DiverDon's Dacor CVS (constant volume buoyancy control system). For my own vintage enjoyment, I dove USD Twin 38s with a Voit VCR2 50 Fathom, Then I dove Sportsways Twin 42s with an Argonaut Kracken. Then I dove a blue Voit 50 cf tank with the Voit blue 50 fathom. Then I dove my Mike Nelson USN 38s with my VR1 project regulator (Mistral guts)... It worked great! And finally, last dive of the weekend, I dove a HP 80 (3442 psi) with my Cyclone HPR DA Aqua Master. So, I got to play with a lot of my favorite stuff! - Sea Hunt Jerry had a run-in with a Whitetail Buck on the way up... Smashed his driver's side wind and mirror. So, he arrived at Fortune Pond a little shook up. But he did some good diving. SwimJim and Eric arrived next and went right in for deep technical diving. Jerry's friend Jill came next. Everybody just kept diving and eating brats the rest of the day. We went out to Kermits for burgers after and then everybody crashed for a much needed sleep. - Saturday some went home and some new guys arrived from Deep Six club... Dave and the two Freds. We all dived like crazy again. Eventually everyone went home but the Bachs and the Browns. We finished out the day with a lovely dinner at Alices restaurant. ONe more night at the motel and we hit the road for our 8 hour drive home. - A Wonderful Weekend... That's for sure.
