Hi all, I just picked up a Dacor Clipper C-3 and was looking for information about it such as value, parts, how it breathed (once overhauled) and so on. The chrome is in rough shape as is the label (all the black paint is off it like the C-2 pictureson the "museum" page, but the hoses look good. Any comments? (like keep it, dive it or sell it?)
I also picked up an Aquamaster DA with the Delhi address, but it has a "Made in France" label and has the tire wheel type yoke. The chrome on this one is also in rough shape but the hoses seem to be good. I am thinking it might be a bit of a mongrel assembled from different parts, since the museum page lists different dates for that address and for the yoke style.
To answer my previous question from another thread, the tire wheel yoke does fit over my Thermo H valve (convertible from DIN to yoke). This means I may switch over the yoke to my "prettier" Aquamaster and dive it with the H valve and my drysuit etc...

BLT,
The Clipper is Dacor's single-diaphragm remake of the R-4 regulator. It should breath pretty well, but not quite to the DA Aquamaster standard. Clean up the hoses on the inside with a bottle brush and soapy water (antibiotic, if possible). The critical thing on the Clipper is the diaphragm. If it's good, you've got a tank of a regulator that you should be able to dive with no problem.

I might add that the Dacor double hose regulators are the only regulators that I know of which can be serviced with a pair a pliers, a screwdriver set and a couple of wrenches. In other words, it was made for guys like us who dive these regulators and want to get into them.
I had one at one time, and felt that the hoses were too short by a few inches. The mouthpiece T has non-return valves which are slightly smaller than the USD equivalents, and that is why I mentioned that it probably would not breath quite as well and the DA Aquamaster in my above comment. Put the USD mouthpiece/hose system on it though...
