I would like to service my beloved Nikonos V... but for what I've read so far, most serious Nikonos Service Centers are out of business... any good professional you guys could recommend?
Cheers!

I loaned my Nik V & SB-105 to a friend of mine who is a commercial diver. He needed a camera that will go deeper than most digital housings. I told him, he would have to find Kodak, Agfa, or Ilford film to use; as, most Nikonos cameras will eat chinese and japanese (fuji) films. I can tell you, you can probably pick up a GoPro (though not vintage) for what shipping and servicing is going to cost you. You might want to contact Backscatter in Monterey, CA; as, they might know who will still service them. Another idea, on facebook, join the group "Cathy Church Photography" and as there. Jim and Cathy Church wrote a book back in the 80's, that had a good section on disassembling the Nik V you can get on e-bait for about $15.00 or so. I was told there is place in North Carolina that still services Nik 4A and Nik V cameras, and is about the only place left in the US. Good luck .... Robert

If you try doing the servicing yourself, I think there are a couple of specialty tools you'll need. And good luck finding a complete servicing kit with all the o-rings! You'll also have to be able to pressure test it when your done.

Sid Macken may have some insights on who can still do this service. I checked with a local camera repair facility, and they said that they had some ability to work on Nikonos; mine is a Nikonos II however. A different camera shop had sent this camera back saying that they could no longer service it. Stay tuned...

Thanks so much both John and Robert... I believe that Southern-Nikonos Texas is no longer servicing but, I found another company that still serve Nikonos and other vintage cameras. It's a company created by one of the former technicians from Southern-Nikonos... and they also service housings. They do pressure testing, up to 160' as well. Fortunately, my camera is in mint conditions...and I happen to have plenty of original O rings for the Nik V... I have several digital underwater cameras with housings and strobes... really fun and super easy to use. But I guess I'm an uncorrectable romantic when it comes to film. So limited and inconvenient but so gratifying, for me. Truly vintage Cheers!!

So, what's the name and phone number of the company that still services Nik V's? Robert
