Can any one tell me the outside dimensions of the voit series of twin tanks? I've a set I was told, when I bought them, were twin 45's, however, after reading several threads and other info from other sites I'm beginning to wonder if they're twin 38's. These were manufactured in 62. Working pressure is 1800, old type manifold, look like welding manifolds. New hydro this year put them back to a + status. 2025 psi. Tanks were covered in vinyl, but I scrapped that off due to rust under the vinyl and had them nickle plated and then painted. And no, they're not for sale. Looked to many years for these to let them go. Any info would be appreciated. Texas

I was under the impression (perhaps very wrongly) that the 38s and 45 were the same tanks, but certified to a different pressure. 1800 vs 2250 psi then maybe factor in the + ratings for the pressure. I am sure if we did the math we might be able to tell, not to mention everyone else on here that seems to know a whole lot more than me ;D (but I'm trying to learn!)

My understanding was that most steel 50's were 50's with the plus rating and approx 45 cu ft with out it.
I have seen sttel 50's in both 1800 psi and 2015 psi service pressure flavors.
Math wise, if you assume a 45 is 45 cu ft at 2015, it would a 38 at 1701 psi. so that does not really work too well.

I believe there is or was a set on ebay--it had a buy it now for 250 dollars so it may be gone> I wanted them but I am holding out for something else and when that something else comes along I am going big guns! While I have had mixed success with ebay my recent endeavors there have yielded several nice pieces to supplement my own vintage rig. Nemrod

I don't believe anyone actually answered the question above. I believe that these were the same outside diameter as a standard steel 71.2 tank. They seemed to all use the same harness system. My twin 42s have this same outside diameter.
