Hi everybody,
I have just obtained a DA Aquamaster, what I thought was a port for a pressure gauge appears to be something else, is this a hookah port?

James, not an expert but I imagine the port you are looking at is a low pressure port--the hookaya port. It can be converted to a low pressure outlet for a safe second using an adapter. I do not think there is a high pressure port on the DA. I think the DA has a yoke deep enough to accept a banjo fitting for a SPG but good luck finding one of those! My two Mistrals have no LP or HP port and have a small yoke so a banjo fitting is not possible even if I had one. Welcome to vintage diving--no spg, no ocata---no nothing--now we're talking--lol. Whether a DA Aquamaster has the long or short yoke depends on when it was made or whether one was added later. The long yoke did not come out until around '66 or '67.
The hooka port uses what is still a standard O2 fitting, so there is lots of potential to add the fitting to an octo hose or to a low pressure inflator hose.
Using a low pressure inflator is awkward given the angle is in exactly the wrong place for a modern BC but it is ideal for use with the older US Divers horse collar with the inflate/deflate fitting mounted on the lower right front of the horse collar.
I now have an extra hose for this inflator and am planning to add the fitting required to use it with a DA Aquamaster.
Another option to a banjo fitting is to use one of the tank valves with the HP port built into it. They are a lot easier to find and a lot less expensive than a banjo fitting.
