Ok, I bit on Ebay and secured some twin tanks, ad said twin voits, backpack is voit, twin manifold says sportways. I presume these are Sportway tanks. Backpack in neat.....made for twins only. Old wrap around plastic.........really comfortable like my first backpack.......come to think of it, it was a sportsways also. Why'd they change?
So can anyone tell me if these are twin 45's or twin 50's? Tanks manufactured in 68.
Merry Christmas to everyone...........

I saw those tanks on ebay and was tempted but not quite what I wanted, hope they hydro OK for you.
The wrap around plastic packs are comfortable. I have one and I like it and I don't care what the tech guys say or the DIR buckle guys either.
Two coffee table books that would be nice, (1)Evolution of Sport Diving and Equipment and (2)Vintage Dive Gear, pictures, stories, history---wouldn't that be great but alas most of it has been thrown away save for that which we can occasionally rescue.
There is a lady on another board whose old knife is in the corner of her garage, her modern plastic fins have more "torque" and I have offered to give that knife a good home, it will wind up in a dumpster!
Good luck with those tanks. Nemrod

Yes they did come with a J manifold. 2250 psi. I remember one of my dive buddies in Okinawa dove with a pair similar to these, and he claimed they were 50's, however, the ad stated these I have were 45's. So I'm confused with all this info..........the bottles are 19.5 inches long and 6.75 inches in dia.
Same size as my voit twins but higher pressure. I also might add these sportways tanks are manufactured a little different. The shoulder has a shallower slope thru the curve to the edge of the tank walls. This should allow a little more volume inside.
My voits have a rounder, steeper shoulder. Certianly prettier. Anyway, I'm pleased with them.
Nemrod, I saw several twins for sale, voit's and sportways for $150.00 each. "http://www.discountdivers.com....click on collectibles. There is an old shop here in my area, fella's been there since 66. He does my hydros and tumbles my tanks when they need it. I'll trust his judgement on these. And yeah, I hope they pass hydro also.

Not to hijack your thread, but as long as you are clicking on the Discount divers website, check here: www.discountdivers.com/fx/seatec.watersports.xl.html?page=drysuit_new_2&text=Drysuits and you will find a cheesy picture of yours truly! ;D Several years ago, my girlfriend and I were co-vice presidents of their dive club, so they knew me there. One day they were looking for a model and threw the suit on me. I have probably scared more customers away with that picture than you could imagine!

I have a couple pairs of twin Sportsways, but they are 72s. One is galvanized, the other orange. I know Frans Carlson has a short set of orange Sportsways as I saw them a few months ago. I assure you he knows what they are. Might try him. Both of my manifolds have 3/4 16 straight bolt threads, but I also have a Sportsways manifold with 3/4" straight pipe threads like everything else. Both of my sets have the aluminum curved back plate. John
