I have seen what I thought was all the regulators in the USA at one time or another. So I was stunned when this 1983 Sportsways Catalog came up on E-Bay. Why? Well, it shows a regulator I have never seen before. Here it is, and I'll comment on it later, other than to say that at $250 I will not be bidding on the catalog. (The catalog has only about two hours more, so if anyone wants it, you'd better get it now; I don't know whether the above link will work once the auction is over.) Here is a diagram of this regulator: Here is the page with the regulator itself: They also had a product which combined the BC inflator with the instruments. Now, this regulator was potentially a game-changer. What happened to it? Has anyone actually seen one? I'm very curious. John

I sold the same catalog 3 weeks ago for $9.95. I have never seen that regulator. I have most of the single hose regulators that were made from 1957- 1985.

Thanks John for posting. Keeping fingers crossed somebody out there has one. Also be great to learn who design it.

With that price, you can hear this sound: My wife and I love to shop for antiques, and most of the time people have their prices high, but then, you have the one's who think so highly of themselves, ya just gotta laugh. Perhaps they believe the dust that collects on these "special" items is even more valuable than the actual item, kinda like the mold where penicillin comes from I know, I know, I shouldn't be such a smart @$$! John,
It looks like they produced at least two prototypes, as there is photographic evidence above of both an orange one and a black one.
The mechanism looks fairly simple, but it also appears that the diagram left off some features, as there is nothing holding the mushroom valve/diaphragm to the sealing surface, and somewhere along that long demand lever there needs to be a fulcrum.
This was in the time period before PhotoShop, so it would have been more difficult to make a "vaporware" regulator. This would be a rare find indeed.
