I noticed that my new-to-me Dacor depth gauge had some verdigris around the opening of the inlet for the bourdon-tube, so I decided to clean it. I used lemon juice, as I have a VERY prolific lemon tree, and the acid content is higher than with white vinegar. I found that even with submersion, getting liquid into that little port was not easy. I tried tapping, and putting a pin into it to pop the air bubbles, which works okay, but not great. I then remembered that I have a syringe for putting ink into empty ink cartridges... Lavage: a washing, especially of a hollow organ such as the stomach or lower bowel, with repeated injections of water. These syringes have a blunt tip: They are ideal for cleaning the crud out of these little ports that are more than happy to to keep what ever they get into them. I think I might do the final rinse with distilled water, thanks for giving me that idea Terry (Duckbill) Jaybird
